How to Earn Wakeout Watts
You earn Wakeout Watts for every physical movement logged to your Apple Health app. This includes:
- Wakeouts (exercises completed within the app)
- Steps taken
- Stairs climbed
- Standing minutes (requires Apple Watch)
- Workout minutes (logged via external exercise apps and Apple Watch)
Daily Activity Goal
Wakeout Watts accumulate towards your daily activity goal. When you reach this goal, you're considered "active" for the day. This goal-oriented approach helps motivate you to stay consistent with your physical activity.
After reaching your daily goal, there's a stretch goal that allows you to earn extra bonus points. This additional target encourages you to push a little further and maintain your momentum.
Customizing Your Goal
We understand that everyone's fitness level and daily routine are different. That's why you can adjust your daily goal in the app settings:
- If you find the goal too challenging, you can lower it to make it more achievable.
- If you're consistently surpassing your goal, you can increase it to give yourself a greater challenge.

Hourly Limits and Anti-Sedentary Science
An important feature of the Wakeout Watts system is the hourly limit on points earned. This means you can only accumulate a certain number of Watts per hour. We've implemented this based on anti-sedentary science, which emphasizes the importance of regular movement throughout the day rather than concentrated periods of activity.
This hourly limit serves two main purposes:
1. It encourages you to spread your physical activity throughout the day, which is more beneficial for your overall health.
2. It prevents you from trying to earn all your Watts in one intense session, which doesn't effectively combat the negative effects of prolonged sedentary behavior.
