Connecting a Custom Domain to Your Wander Site

A guide for property managers on linking a custom domain to their Wander Site, including DNS configuration steps and automated SSL security details.

Updated this week

Establishing a custom domain (e.g., yourcompany.com) is a vital step in presenting a professional brand and building trust with potential guests. Wander Sites makes this process straightforward while providing the security features necessary for a high-end booking experience.

Prerequisites

Before you begin the connection process, ensure you have the following:

  • Domain Ownership: You must own a domain through a registrar such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, or Cloudflare.

  • DNS Access: You must have the ability to access and modify your domain’s DNS settings.

Step 1: Add Your Domain in Wander Sites

First, notify the Wander platform of the domain you intend to use:

  1. Log in to your sites dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Channels section and select Website, then click on Domain.

  3. Enter your full domain name (e.g., www.yourcompany.com or yourcompany.com).

  4. Click Connect Domain.

Step 2: Configure DNS Records

You will need to sign in to your domain registrar’s website and add specific records to point your domain toward Wander Sites.

For the root domain (yourcompany.com):

Type

Name

Value

A

@

(Use the specific IP address displayed in your Wander dashboard)

For the www subdomain:

Type

Name

Value

CNAME

www

sites.wander.com

Step 3: Verify and Secure

After updating your DNS records, return to Wander to finalize the connection:

  1. Go back to Settings > Domain in your Wander dashboard.

  2. Click Verify Domain.

  3. Propagation: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to spread across the internet, though they are often verified much faster.

  4. Status: Once the process is complete, your domain status will update to "Connected".

Automated SSL Protection

Security is a priority for the modern traveler. Wander Sites automatically provisions a free SSL certificate once your domain is successfully verified. This ensures your site is fully accessible via HTTPS, protecting guest data and improving your search engine ranking.
