Our 30-minute attorney consultations are designed to provide clients with professional legal guidance on their Wealth.com estate plans. To ensure a smooth experience for both the client and the attorney, we follow a structured four-step process.
When your client submits a request to consult with an attorney, they can indicate whether they would like their advisor to be included in the communication. We strive to ensure that the advisor is included in all correspondence. When we make the introduction to the attorney, we also notify them that the advisor is copied in the communication.
The Consultation Process
1. Request
The process begins when a client submits a Consultation Request directly through their Wealth.com account.
2. Discovery
Once a request is received, our team will send an initial email to gather the specific questions the client wishes to discuss.
Note: We cannot proceed with a match until these questions are collected. This step ensures we understand the client’s goals and confirms that the request falls within the scope of our services.
3. Matching & Intake
After we have the specific questions, we match the client with an attorney licensed in their state and provide the attorney’s bio. Provide the client with relevant educational articles or podcast resources related to their questions. We then send a DocuSign email containing:
A Limited Scope Representation Agreement (outlining the specific boundaries of the session).
A Conflict Check Form.
Payment of the consultation fee is also collected at this stage.
4. Introduction
Once the forms are signed and payment is received, we send the conflict check to the attorney. As soon as the attorney clears the conflict, we send a warm introductory email connecting the client with the attorney (and including their Advisor, if requested). The client then schedules the meeting date and time directly with the attorney.
Best Use of Consultations
These sessions are best suited for clients looking to ask questions regarding the estate plan through Wealth.com. We initially ask for specific questions to set up the consultation as efficiently as possible, ensure the client is prepared, and provide the attorney with context about what the client would like to discuss.
Call Expectations & Documents
Clients are welcome to share documents with the attorney after the introduction is made. However, please keep the following in mind:
No Pre-Review Required: Attorneys are not required to review documents prior to the 30-minute meeting.
Document Handling: Wealth.com does not send client documents to attorneys in advance; the client must provide them directly.
Consultation Rates
The negotiated rate is currently $240. Please note that rates are always subject to change based on the markets in which our attorneys practice. We are continuously working to reduce costs for our clients while maintaining the quality and integrity we expect from our attorney network. This rate may vary by individual attorney.
FAQ
How long after a client submits a consultation request will they receive a reply? Our Support Team typically replies to initial requests within one business day.
Do you send the Limited Scope Representation Agreement (LSRA) immediately after the request? No. Before matching a client with an attorney, we must first gather specific questions regarding what they would like to discuss. This information is requested in our first follow-up email, as it is required to ensure the request is a good fit for a 30-minute consultation.
Do you provide a list of attorneys for the client to choose from? We do not provide a list. Instead, we match the client with an attorney licensed in their specific state. While we ensure they are licensed in the correct jurisdiction, we cannot guarantee the attorney will be local to the client's city. If a client prefers not to move forward with the initial match, we can provide a second matching option.
Do the client and attorney just email back and forth to find a meeting time? Scheduling methods vary by attorney. Some will provide a direct scheduling link, while others prefer to coordinate availability via email or phone. Consultations are typically conducted virtually or by phone.
Can the attorney review my documents before the call? While clients are welcome to share documents once the introduction is made, attorneys are not required to review them prior to the 30-minute session. We recommend having your documents ready to reference during the call to make the most of your time. Wealth.com does not send client documents to attorneys in advance; the client must provide them directly.
Can I have a full document review during my attorney consultation?
No, comprehensive document reviews are outside the scope of a standard 30-minute consultation. If you require a full review, we can facilitate a Direct Referral by reaching out to our attorney network to check for availability.
Please note that Direct Referrals do not qualify for a negotiated fee; instead, the cost and services will be based on the attorney’s own standard rates, and you will work with the attorney directly for those services.
Can I download my estate plan as a Word Doc so the attorney can easily add amendments or codicils in one document?
Yes. After requesting your attorney consultation, you can head to your Vault and download your estate plan as a Word File (.DOCX) for your attorney to reference. To learn more, check out this article.
Can an attorney draft a custom document for me outside of the platform? (Requesting Custom Document Drafting)
It is possible, but this is subject to the individual attorney's discretion and the complexity of your request. Because custom drafting goes beyond the scope of a standard estate plan, these requests are handled as Direct Referrals. Unlike the standard 30-minute introductory consultation request, custom drafting typically involves separate engagements and fees determined by the attorney.
If you need a specialized legal document, follow these steps to see if a network attorney can assist:
Submit a Request: Log in to the platform and navigate to the Consultation section.
Provide Details: In the Notes section of your request, specify exactly what type of document or custom language you are looking for.
Attorney Review: Our team will reach out to a qualified attorney in your state to share your notes.
Confirmation: We will notify you whether the attorney can support your specific request and provide next steps for a direct referral.
Note: Direct Referrals are independent legal services. Any fee structures or representation agreements for custom drafting will be handled directly between you and the law firm.
