Turn spoken dental findings into a Dental Chart, alongside your clinical notes, from one recording. Whippet maps findings to permanent dog or cat teeth. Review the draft, make any corrections, and export a PDF report.
Create a chart from your recording
Record your consult as usual. State the tooth number, finding and what happened or is planned. For example: “108 has a slab fracture. Extraction recommended. 305 is missing.”
Open the Dental Chart tab on the consult page. It appears when the recording contains chartable dental findings; the Canine or Feline badge identifies the species. Wait for processing to finish before editing.
The Chrome extension has the same Dental Chart tab in its side panel. On mobile, open Dental on the consult screen. Swipe the diagram horizontally to reach every tooth, then tap a tooth or finding to review and edit it.
Review and correct the findings
The patient's right is on your left. Select a tooth or an entry under Recorded findings to read its note. The legend shows:
Not evaluated — outline; no evaluation recorded.
Evaluated — green; examined, not necessarily normal. Read the finding.
Missing — grey; absent, including a previous extraction.
Extracted — red X; extracted during this visit.
Treatment — orange ring; a finding, recommendation or treatment decision.
Unmentioned teeth normally remain Not evaluated. An explicit statement that the remaining teeth were examined and needed no action can mark them Evaluated.
To correct a finding:
Select the tooth.
Choose its Tooth status and edit the Clinical note.
Select Save to keep your changes.
Use Treatment for “108 needs extraction”; use Extracted only if it was performed. Include declined or deferred work in the note. Selecting a tooth alone does not change its status.
Choose a status before adding a note to an unevaluated tooth. To mark it Not evaluated, clear its note first. Reset discards unsaved edits and loads the latest saved chart.
Export a PDF report
Select PDF report above the chart. The report includes patient details, the diagram, legend and clinical findings, continuing across pages when needed. Use PNG for an image attachment or Copy image to paste into a system that accepts images.
On mobile, select Share PDF to send the report through your phone's share sheet. The report contains the same chart and findings as the web version.
Exports include your current edits. Unsaved changes are labelled Draft · unsaved changes. Exporting does not save them: select Save separately. Saved chart means the chart was saved, not clinically approved.
Attach or paste the report into your PMS as its workflow permits. The dental report is exported separately from your written notes.
If something goes wrong
No Dental Chart tab: the recording may lack chartable dog or cat findings.
Can't edit: wait for processing or saving to finish.
Can't save: keep the page open and retry; refreshing can discard unsaved edits.
Saved chart changed while editing: Reset loads the latest version; Save replaces it with your changes.
Can't copy an image: download the PNG instead.
Report too long for an image: use PDF report to include every finding.
PDF report disabled: PDF export is unavailable in this environment; use PNG or Copy image.
What this doesn't do (yet)
Dental charts cover permanent dog and cat teeth, not other species or deciduous/mixed dentition. They are not full periodontal probing charts, do not fill your PMS's native dental fields, and do not replace a complete examination or clinical record.
