Link Tracking Custom Parameters

The Link Tracking: Custom Parameters feature in Whippy allows you to add custom UTM parameters to your short links. This helps in tracking the performance of your campaigns and understanding where your traffic is coming from. Follow these steps to set up and manage custom parameters for your links.

1. Access Campaigns: Links

You can access it directly through this link: https://app.whippy.co/campaigns/links

2. Navigate to Short Links

In the left menu, select Short Links to manage your short links.

3. Create a New Link

Click the Create Link button to start the process of creating a new short link.

4. Enter Basic Link Information

Fill in the basic information required for the link:

  • Destination URL: The full URL where the link will redirect.

  • Short Link: The custom short link you want to create.

5. Save the Link

Click Save to store the basic link information.

6. Access Link Settings

Once the link is saved, click on Settings to access additional customization options.

7. Set Your Custom Link Parameters

Enter the custom parameters to be appended to the link for tracking purposes:

  • UTM Source: Identifies the source of the traffic (e.g., Google, Newsletter).

  • UTM Medium: Describes the marketing medium (e.g., Email, CPC).

  • UTM Campaign: The name of the campaign to track (e.g., Summer_Sale).

  • UTM Content: Used to differentiate similar content within ads or links.

  • UTM Term: Identifies paid search keywords.

8. Create the Link

After entering all custom parameters, click Create Link to finalize and save the link with the custom tracking parameters.
