Transaction thresholds & verification requirements

In this article, you will learn about transaction thresholds and what happens when they are reached

Written by Marius Wickie Support

Overview

Wickie (GreatIdee AG) operates under Swiss financial regulation (Anti-Money Laundering Act / AMLA). As required by Swiss law, all transactions — fiat and crypto — are subject to KYC checks regardless of amount. Above certain thresholds, additional verification is required.

Note: Multiple transactions made on the same day are combined and treated as a single transaction. The monthly cumulative counter resets once the monthly threshold is reached. A minimum of 2 transactions is required for the cumulative threshold to apply.

What happens when a threshold is reached

When your transaction reaches or exceeds a threshold, Wickie will contact you to request:

  1. Source of Wealth/Funds (SoW/SoF) — documents showing where the funds come from.

  2. A completed special review form — sent to you by the Wickie team.

The process is straightforward and Wickie will guide you through each step.

How to prepare for large transactions

If you are planning to send a large amount — especially close to or above the thresholds — having the following documents ready will make the process faster and smoother:

Individuals:

  • Bank statements from the last 3–6 months

  • Payslip or income tax return

  • Proof of purchase (e.g. crypto purchase receipts)

Legal entities:

  • Company financial statements

  • Bank statements from the last 3–6 months

Important notes

  • Wickie does not accept physical cash.

  • All verification documents must be provided in writing.

  • Swiss law (AMLA / GwG) requires that all reviews are fully documented and traceable.

Wickie operates under Swiss financial regulation. These thresholds and requirements are set by the Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA / GwG).
