Waking Up an Unresponsive Camera

Unresponsive Camera

Updated over a week ago

If your camera fails to power on despite using fresh batteries, it may be in a state we refer to as "asleep," characterized by unresponsiveness. This occurrence is commonly caused by interruptions during a firmware update, such as the camera losing power or an SD card failure. In the rare event of your camera being "asleep," you can restore functionality by connecting it to a computer via the provided USB cable. If you lack access to these items, kindly contact our office at 225-478-4026 for assistance. Below, we outline the steps to awaken a camera from this state.

Process for waking up a WiseEye Mini or Data camera:
1. Insert an SD card.
2. Ensure the Power Switch is in the ‘OFF’ position.
3. Using the black USB cable included with your camera, plug the USB-A (big end) into an available
USB port on your desktop or laptop computer.
4. This step requires some coordination. Press and hold the LEFT ARROW key and insert the USB-B
(small end) into the computer port on the bottom of the camera (located near the 12v power
port).
5. Count slowly to 30 seconds. A good 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi…should do fine.
6. Now release the LEFT ARROW key and wait about 60 to 90 seconds.
7. If successful the screen will flash with the WiseEye Logo and then power down with MSDC
showing on the screen.
8. Unplug the USB cord from the camera and either install 8 AA batteries or plug a 12v power
source into the power port on the bottom of the camera.
9. Set power switch to SETUP. Your camera should now perform as intended.
