Welcome to your membership settings!

Based on your sign up responses, we've designed an effortless membership program that you can promote today to start meeting your biggest fans.

The fastest way for you to start earning money is by:

  1. Adding your next event right here

  2. Sharing the link on your site, socials, or newsletter

Thousands of members and a decade of experience

Your memberships are based on the behavior of 75,000 attendees at 2,500 events by over 200 organizers on Withfriends to date. Our team has spent over a decade working in fundraising, from arts museums to collectives, and you now can harness all that knowledge.

The basic principles are baked right into our powerful upsell mechanic, our simplified and mobile-first interface, and memberships designed to engage the 1 in 5 potential supporters that we know are there.

We make sure the membership program is increasingly valuable to them long term, while being easy to manage so as to not distract you from what you do best; organizing the events that your community knows and loves.

To learn more about how we’ve designed each aspect, read on below.

Tiers

Pricing just right and discounts that earn you money

Your members want to choose what they can afford, and how to best identify with you, but get overwhelmed by too many choices. We automatically create 3 levels for them to choose from, with the following levels of dedication in mind.

  • Fan - Likes and wants to learn more about the programming

  • Friend - Loves and knows all about the programming

  • Family - Lives for and cares deeply about the programming

Pricing

Our pricing and discounts are set relative to your average ticket price. The Fan tier should feel like a tip, the Friend level should feel more substantial, but still like an add-on, and the Family tier should feel like a purchase on its own. You can always create higher tiers later on, but best to start with levels priced closely to what your attendees already spend.

Discounts

The discounts are intended to feel like a great deal if the member comes to more than one event per month, but our insights show that kind of behavior is rare, and those that do are likely the VIPs who can support your organization in other ways now that you’ve identified them.

Track Success

You can monitor how often members use their benefits over time, and how much profit you’re making per tier, and tweak the numbers as you learn exact what fits your audience best.

Basics

Simple visuals that get attention and grow memberships

Video

When someone is buying tickets, no matter how big of a supporter of your programs they might be, they’re in a real rush. They’re likely on a phone, they may even be walking! So you need something to grab their attention; something colorful and moving is best. To fill that need, we’ve provided you with a neat little video loop made by the talented Animated Text that you can use to get started.

Images

Same for the tiers, we’ve given you an image for each so they can help catch their eye as they’re deciding real quick during checkout. Feel free to update these if you have other materials on hand, but don’t overthink it!

Based on what we know about the average member value on Withfriends ($9/month) and the average number of attendees that become members (1 out of 5), we can estimate a membership goal for your first three months, using only the number of attendees you have each month. This is only an estimate, and we won’t show it to your visitors unless you choose to, so you can use it on your dashboard to track your progress as you go!

Advanced Settings

How to customize your memberships

We highly recommend adding and linking events as soon as you make an account, so you can start to seeing how your attendees engage with your program as-is; the most valuable part of Withfriends is being able to focus on organizing and promoting your events, and not having to worry about benefits. If you don’t already have merch in hand, or benefits for your members that are easy to manage, we recommend sticking to the automated discounts for now.

Adding Benefits

...but if you do have benefits ready to go, here’s a few benefits we might recommend offering your members that most effectively use our existing settings.

🏆 Rewards - help members identify themselves with a card, sticker, or pin

🙏 Thanks - public gratitude on social media, on your website, or on site at your events

🎟️ Pre-Sale -  advanced access to tickets before anyone else

📰 Media - share playlists, posters, or zines related to the programs they loves

👕 🍹 Store - discounts at your bar, merch table, or online store

🌻 Members - access to an online forum, member events, or even special meetings

Monthly v One-time Gifts

You can add these as monthly, or one-time gifts. One-time gifts are great as a reward for signing up, but you’ll want to focus on the monthly benefits that will keep people from cancelling.

Customizing Descriptions & Images

You can customize that benefit description, but keep it as simple as possible - people are moving fast, and you don’t want to give them very much to read. Same for the tier image- you can change that to document a benefit itself, but usually it's best to represent the identity of the tier.

Tier Limits

If you’d like to limit the capacity of any tier, you have that ability, but we recommend exploring different pricing over restricting any particular tier.
