Having a Parent account in the Schoology learning management system (platform) is like having two accounts.
Your personal account with your own name and information.
Your Child Activity display where you can access Schoology from your child’s perspective - access what they access and receive updates about their activity.
To switch from your student’s account to your own account, click your student’s name at the top right and select your name from the drop-down list.
The check mark icon in the drop-down list will indicate which account you are currently viewing.
Schoology Home Page - Parent View
WIU eAcademy Logo: Click the WIU eAcademy logo to return to the Schoology home page.
Courses and Groups: These options are used by guardians/parents who have been enrolled in a Schoology course or who have been added to a group.
Resources: Resources is a location where you can upload and store files, if needed.
Search: This option is not applicable in the Parent view.
Calendar: This option is not applicable in the Parent view.
Messages: You can access your messages from the Message icon (envelope). Depending on the settings in place, you may be able to exchange messages with your child’s teachers. NOTE: There is no Message icon in the Child Activity display. Messages to your child are private and are not accessible from a Parent account.
Notifications and Requests: The bell icon is for announcements and notifications. Any time someone sends you a message, wants to connect, or does something that pertains to you, it will be easily accessible in this area. Everything is chronologically ordered and clickable to make managing them simple.
Your Name or your Child’s Name: Click to toggle between the Parent view and Child view.
Messages
Check New Messages
When you have a message in your inbox, the Messages icon in the header displays a new number.
Click the Messages icon (envelope) to display a list of recent messages.
New messages are indicated with a blue dot. Click the message you’d like to read in full.
To reply to a message, write in the Message area, and then click Send.
Check Sent Messages
Click the Messages icon (envelope) and click View All.
Click the Sent Messages tab.
To read a message, click a message you’ve sent in the past.
To send a message, click +New Message.
Type a teacher’s first or last name in the To field, and then click the teacher’s name that appears.
Fill out the form and click Send.

At the bottom of every Schoology page, the footer includes the following items.
Language Selector: Use this menu to set the language for your Schoology experience.
