Written by Sue Soltis

EXAMPLE 1: MATH

  • There are daily assignments that should be completed in order. Students are permitted to work ahead of pace.

  • The assignments are designed to take, on average, 25 minutes to complete.

  • All work should be done on a digital or traditional notebook.

  • Please be sure to type answers as described in the directions.

  • Homework assignments are worth 10 points, while chapter exams are worth 100 points.

  • Assignments are auto-graded; thus, you will know your results upon submission.

  • Please notify me if you fall behind pace.

  • All late work will be addressed on an individual basis.

EXAMPLE 2: SOCIAL STUDIES

  • Students are expected to complete approximately 2-3 assessments per week, each worth varying points.

  • Assessments are typically due on Saturdays by 11:59 PM.

  • I aim to grade students' work within 5-7 days after the submission deadline.

  • If/when submitting late assessments, please notify me via email.

EXAMPLE 3: SCIENCE

  • You are expected to complete all the assignments for the week. Some weeks are less, and some are more. Please review the emails I send you with all of this information.

  • All assignments are due on Saturday of that week by 11:59 PM, except during holidays, so please refer to my weekly emails and/or the Weekly Schedule posted at the top of the course page.

  • I will make my best attempt to get all work graded within a few days of submission.

  • I do not accept late assignments except for extenuating circumstances, and I would need an email from you stating this!

EXAMPLE 4: MATH

  1. Students will be expected to complete all assignments for the week. The number of assignments will vary depending on how many topics we are studying that week.

  2. Most weeks contain a quiz. These quizzes can range anywhere between 5-10 questions. Each question is worth two points.

  3. Each week will start on Sunday and be due the following Saturday at 11:59 PM. Work will be graded the day after it is due.

  4. I will accept late assignments two weeks after it is due. After that, no late assignments will be graded. Please reach out to me if you have special circumstances.

EXAMPLE 5: BCIT

  1. Assignments will be posted by noon on Monday of each week.

  2. Students should complete the week’s work by the following Saturday at 11:59 PM.

  3. Work that is submitted on time will be graded within one week.

  4. There will be at least 1 graded assignment per week.

  5. Late assignments will be graded for 1/2 credit up to the following Saturday; after that, they will receive a score of "0".

  6. Any work not turned in by the end of the quarter will be scored as a "0".

  7. If an emergency situation occurs, it is the student's responsibility to contact me immediately.

EXAMPLE 6: WORLD LANGUAGES

  • For each week, you can expect 2 - 4 assignments, tests/quizzes, or a project. Each assignment will have the point values marked. Please make sure to log in daily so that you can continue to build on the topic that we are learning.

  • In a nine-week period, this class will have at least 1000 total points.

  • Continued daily repetition of the vocabulary and grammar presented is the key to mastery and success in this class.

  • It is imperative that you follow the directions for submitting work. If you have any issues, please let me know so that I can assist you. When you follow the directions for submitting your work, it allows the opportunity to give direct feedback for each assignment.

  • Late submissions of HOMEWORK will include,

    • 75% credit if the assignment is one (1) to two (2) days late

    • 50% credit if the assignment is up to one (1) week late

    • After one (1) week late, NO CREDIT will be given for late homework

  • All TESTS/QUIZZES, including PROJECTS, must be taken/submitted by the due date, or a zero (0) will result for the grade.

  • ALL assigned work is ALWAYS due by 11:59 PM on SATURDAY of each week.

  • I will make necessary accommodations to support students in their academic pursuits on a case-by-case basis.
