Grade categories group your graded items together including quizzes, assignments, and forum posts. Graded items should be grouped together according to the nine-week period in which they occur. If preferred, you may re-name your grade category to options such as First 9 Weeks, 1st Quarter, Q1, Marking Period 1, or MP1. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTING.

Fall Semester Course Grade Categories

~ 1st Nine Weeks

~ 2nd Nine Weeks

Spring Semester Course Grade Categories

~ 3rd Nine Weeks

~ 4th Nine Weeks

Full Year Course Grade Categories

~ 1st Nine Weeks

~ 2nd Nine Weeks

~ 3rd Nine Weeks

~ 4th Nine Weeks

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SUBCATEGORIES:

You should not have any grade subcategories such as 1st Nine Weeks โ€“ Assignments. Grade subcategories cause an incorrect calculation and the wrong Moodle grades will be transmitted to Genius.

To edit a grade category name, follow the steps below.

Navigate to your Moodle course.

From the left navigation menu, click Grades.

Click the Setup tab.

The main grade categories are represented by a folder icon. DO NOT RENAME THE TOP CATEGORY (displays your course name).

To the right of the 1st Nine Weeks grade category name, click Edit (1) and then click Edit settings (2).

In the Category name field, enter the new grade category name.

Click Save changes.
