Schoology Courses

Schoology courses may be 36-week full year courses or 18-week semester courses. To identify semester courses, look for Sem 1 or Sem 2 in the course name.

Accelerate Education Courses

Almost every Accelerate Education course is an 18-week semester course (there are a few exceptions). For the core courses, Semester A courses are taught in the fall and Semester B courses are taught in the spring. Courses that can be taught in either the fall or spring semester will include the word FALL or SPRING in the course name.

~ Electives: If the course is an elective, you can enroll the student in either the FALL or the SPRING semester. The same content is taught in both the FALL and SPRING courses.

~ Core Courses: If you want a student to complete a full-year core course, you will need to enroll the student in both A and B courses (e.g., Language Arts 3 A and Language Arts 3 B).

>>> Pay close attention to the Enrollment START DATES and END DATES. <<<

Semester 1, A, or FALL Course

Start Date: 08/19/2024 or current date after 08/19/2024

End Date: 01/08/2025

Semester 2, B, or SPRING Course

Start Date: 01/09/2025 or current date after 01/09/2025

End Date: 05/19/2025

Full Year Course

Start Date: 08/19/2024 or current date after 08/19/2024

End Date: 05/19/2025

From the eAcademy Online Course Catalog, search for available courses. You can search by Course Title, Subject, Academic Type, Course Length, Vendor, or Grade Level. Click a course name to view the course description and syllabus.

Before you move to the next step, make sure there are seats available in the desired course. From the Genius Dashboard, review the Total Seats by Section.

  1. If the desired course has no seats available, then look for a similar course with available seats.

  2. If you need to select a course that is full, please contact the eAcademy Help Desk and request an increase to the seat cap. List the course name, teacher name, and the number of required seats.

Click Students from the top menu bar.

From the left navigation menu, click Bulk Enroll.

Search criteria: To limit the number of students, set your search criteria. In the example below, a Grade Level of 8 was selected to only view 8th graders (this criteria depends on OEAs entering the grade level for each active eAcademy student). You may also want to select Active from the Status drop-down menu.

From search results, select the students you want to enroll in the course you determined at the beginning. If you want to select all the students that appear in the results, click Check All.

Click Bulk Enroll below the list of student names.

Select a School: Select WIU eAcademy.

Term: From the drop-down menu, select the current term. The Start Date will automatically populate.

Course: From the Course drop-down menu, select the desired course.

NOTES:

~ Pay attention to course names so that you select the correct course. Schoology courses without Sem 1 or Sem 2 in the course name are full year courses.

~ Many Accelerate Education course names contain FALL or SPRING. These courses are semester-only courses and can be scheduled during either semester.

Section: Depending on the course you select, the section may auto-populate.

For Accelerate Education elective courses: Select the desired FALL or SPRING section.

Start Dates for Full Year, Semester 1, Semester A, and FALL Courses:

Depending on when you enroll a student, the Start Date will default to either the first day of the school year (Aug. 19, 2024) or the current date. For example, if enrolling a student on Aug. 16, 2024, the Start Date will default to Aug. 19, 2024. After Aug. 19, 2024, the Start Date will default to the current date.

Start Dates for Semester 2, Semester B, and SPRING Courses:

If you enroll a student in Semester 2 (or B or SPRING) courses prior to the start of Semester 2, the Start Date will default to either the first day of the school year (Aug. 19, 2024) or the current date. For example, if enrolling a student on Oct. 21, 2024 for a Semester 2 (or B or SPRING) course, the Start Date will default to Oct. 21, 2024.

NOTES:

~ Prior to January 9, 2025, you must edit the Start Date for Semester 2 (or B or SPRING) courses and select January 9, 2025.

~ IMPORTANT: If you enter the incorrect Start Date for Semester 2 courses, the system will charge you. Pay attention to the course you select (Sem 1 / A / FALL or Sem 2 / B / SPRING) and the applicable Start Date.

Start Date: While typically not necessary, if you need to edit the Start Date, click once in the field to show the calendar, and select the desired Start Date or you can type directly in the field.

~ Full Year, Semester 1, A, or FALL Start Date: 08/19/2024 or current date after 08/19/2024

~ Semester 2, B, or SPRING Start Date: 01/09/2025 or current date after 01/09/2025

Make sure you have selected the correct term, course, section, start date, and end date for the students. If satisfied with your selections, click Enroll. The selected students will be enrolled in the course. If necessary, click Cancel and start over.

Confirm Enrollment: Click Enroll a second time to confirm enrollment. The students, the teachers, and you will receive automated emails confirming the course enrollment.
