To help students stay more organized and control course pacing, there may be times when you want to unpublish (or hide) items in your Schoology course, such as topic folders, assignments, and quizzes. Hiding the content until the week that you want students working on it will give you the control that you need to ensure that students do not work ahead.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep your current and previously viewed topics and graded materials visible to students. You may only hide future topics and graded materials to control course pacing. If you unpublish a previously graded material, the grades are no longer visible in the gradebook.

Example: Unpublishing (hiding) a topic folder

If you choose to hide future topic folders, explain to students in your Welcome email that you will be publishing topic folders each week. Provide students with a publishing schedule so they can be prepared for the school year.

Navigate to your Schoology course.

To the right of the topic folder name, click the gear icon and then click Unpublish.
