Best Practices:

  • Before you start saving your course materials to Resources, create collections for each course or subject area. A collection is a container that stores courses, folders, files, and resources you may want to use again. This enables you to curate your course content before moving it into your courses. Click here to review the resource, Creating a Collection in Schoology Resources.

  • If you have course materials you plan to overwrite, you should first delete the existing materials so you don’t have duplicate course materials.

Navigate to your Schoology course you want to copy materials from.

If not already selected, click Materials from the left navigation menu listed under Course Options.

Click the gear icon to the right of the course material or folder you would like to copy.

Select Save to Resources from the drop-down menu.

Select the collection in which you would like to save a copy of your course materials. If you have not created a collection, you can add the course materials to your Home collection.

(Optional) Select a folder within the collection to which you would like to save your course materials. In the example below, we selected the Demo Course: Intro to Schoology collection and the Assignments folder.

If you are saving an entire folder, you will see a list of the materials within the folder that will be saved to your Resources.

Click Save Copy. Once the materials have been saved to your collection, you will receive an email indicating the transfer is complete.

Navigate to your Schoology course in which you want to import (copy) the materials.

Remember: If you are replacing course materials, you may want to first delete the existing materials so you don’t have a duplicate.

Expand the Folder (Topic) where you want to insert the materials. Hover your mouse until you see the green dashed line within the Folder and then click once.

For this example, we will place Assignment for Week 1 in the Week 1: Introduction folder.

Click Import from Resources.

If you created a Collection, click the Collection name (1), and if you created a folder in the Collection, click the Folder name (2) to view all the items.

Select the course material you want to copy (1) and click Import (2).

Click Advanced Options before clicking Import.

From this screen, you can edit the Max pts, Due date, Category, and Period. Do not edit the Scale/Rubric and do not select Set as midterm/final.

Click Import.

To make additional edits to the course material you just copied, click the gear icon to the right of the copied course material, and then click Edit.

When finished making any edits, click Save Changes.
