eAcademy courses use assessments and no longer use tests/quizzes. Any tests/quizzes in your course will need to be converted into assessments using the test/quiz conversion tool. To use the test/quiz conversion tool, you will need to first save your tests/quizzes to Resources.

Best Practice:

Navigate to your Schoology course. You can either copy the entire course to Resources or just the tests/quizzes. For this demonstration, we’ll copy one test/quiz to Resources.

To the right of your test/quiz name, click the gear icon and then click Save to Resources from the drop-down menu.

Select the collection in which you would like to save a copy of your course materials. If you have not created a collection, you can add the course materials to your Home collection.

We’ll select the collection we created previously, eAcademy Student Orientation.

(Optional) Select a folder within the collection to which you would like to save your course materials and then click Save Copy. In the example below, we selected the eAcademy Student Orientation collection and the Assessments folder.

From the top menu bar, click RESOURCES.

Click the collection name where you saved the test/quiz.

If applicable, click the folder inside the collection to expand the folder.

Click the gear icon to the right of the test/quiz name and then click Convert to Assessment.

Select the collection and folder where you want to save the converted assessment and then click Convert. We selected the same collection and folder where we saved the test/quiz.

If you only selected one test/quiz to convert, you can click to refresh the webpage. Your converted assessment should appear in the Assessments folder.

Navigate back to your course and click the chevron to the left of the weekly folder where you need to insert the converted assessment. This will expand the folder.

Hover your mouse pointer directly below the location where you want to add the converted assessment until you see a green dashed line.

Left-click your mouse and then click Import from Resources at the bottom of the left column.

Under My Resources, select the collection in which the converted assessment resides.

Click the folder name where the converted assessment resides.

Check the box next to the converted assessment name and then click Import.

Click Advanced Options.

Enter the Max pts, Due date and Time, Category, and Period. Do not check the box next to Set as midterm/final.

Click Import after entering the Advanced Options.

To the right of the assessment name, click the gear icon and then click Edit.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Submissions in converted assessments are disabled by default. You must Enable the submissions so students can complete the assessment.

Submission options:

  • Enable - Students are able to open and take the assessment.

  • Enable until - Students can take the assessment until the date and time you specify in the Until field that displays.

  • Enable from … until - Students can begin the assessment after the date and time indicated in From and before the date and time in Until.

  • Disable - Students cannot take the assessment.

Click Save Changes after reviewing all your assessment settings.

You can delete the test/quiz as long as no students have completed it. To the right of the test/quiz name, click the gear icon and then click Delete.

Click Delete a second time. The deleted test/quiz will be moved to your course’s Recycle Bin.

Click the assessment name and review all the Questions and the Setup (assessment settings). Make any needed edits or corrections.
