You can use the Accessibility Checker in the Rich Text Editor to review and correct any accessibility issues in your content. This ensures that all users have equal access to the information that is created in your courses.

When creating content in Schoology, click the Accessibility Checker icon in the Rich Text Editor pane. The Accessibility Checker will call out any accessibility issues found in the material, including:

  • Heading levels

  • Missing or incorrect alt text for images

  • Format lists

  • Text color contrast

  • Merge links

Navigate to your Schoology course and expand the folder where the content resides that you want to check.

To the right of the page, assignment, or discussion name, click the gear icon, and then click Edit. For an assessment, click the assessment name, and then click the Setup tab.

Click the Accessibility Checker icon at the right of the Rich Text Editor toolbar.

Review the accessibility issues.

  1. Click Next to skip an issue without altering it.

  2. Click Previous to go back to a previous issue.

If alt text is required, type it into the text box, and then click Apply. If the image is decorative only, check the box next to Decorative image, and then click Apply.

Click Apply to accept any suggested accessibility edits.

Once all accessibility issues have been addressed, click Close at the top right.

Click Save Changes.
