A: Would removing a portion of the text from the title make the item difficult to distinguish from other items with similar titles?
Title or Description?
Some titles and descriptions are very easily identifiable. For example:
Clearly, the larger blue text is the title and the smaller black text is the description.
Long Titles
But when you see a long title, such as the below example, please include "with Snow Peas" or "with Mixed Vegetables" in the title. We don't want eight items with the same title of just "Beef".
Though it may seem natural to move "with Oyster Sauce" or "with Green Peppers" to the description, doing so means that we would be left with multiple items with the exact same title. For example:
Duplicate Titles
If you encounter a menu that has multiple items with the same title and it is not clear what the difference is, please transcribe as is on the menu. For example:
It is most important to us that you transcribe as quickly and as accurately as possible. Generally, you are only required to transcribe what you see on the menu --- with the exception of implementing Woflow's stylistic preferences.
The menu above did not specify the difference between all of these "Shanghai Lo Mein" dishes, except for the slight changes in pricing. Therefore, this transcriber did the correct job of transcribing exactly as it is:
The auditor then did their job correctly by reviewing the menu, seeing the duplicate items, going to restaurant website, and performing the necessary background research to determine how to distinguish the duplicate items.
If you (as a transcriber) would like to minimize bookmarks and edits, you are welcome to do this web research yourself, however you are not required to. The QA team will audit and advise you on what corrections to make at the review stage.
Efficiencies
If you see multiple items with the same base, you do not need to combine them into one item, unless otherwise instructed by your auditor.
Example:
The above are both examples of items with a common base (top: soup, bottom: beef). They should still be listed as separate items (not one item with many options).
