What documents are verified once Document Verification is activated?

Document Verification functionality will run a variety of checks on the following documents, which are options for employees to use when completing Section 1 of Form I-9:

List A: Proves identity and work authorization.

  • US Passport

  • Passport Card

  • Permanent Resident Card (I-551)

List B: Proves identity.

  • Driver’s License Issued by State

  • State-issued ID Card

List C: Proves work authorization.

  • US Social Security Card

These documents cover 90% of the documents used within WorkBright for Citizenship Status documentation on the Form I-9.

The level of detection and verification will depend on the tier that your account is in with WorkBright.

STARTER TIER DETECTION AND VERIFICATION

If you are in the Starter tier, you will be able to securely store photos of work authorization documents with Form I-9, but there will be no detection or validation of the captured documents.

GROWTH TIER DETECTION AND VERIFICATION

  • Guided camera support with Optical Character Recognition that will lift the document numbers automatically to reduce errors.

  • Verification that the work authorization document(s) presented match the selected document(s) from Lists A, B, and/or C.

  • Detect that the image of work authorization document(s) are of legible quality and that all elements are in frame.

Document Verification results in the Growth tier may look like this:

PREMIUM TIER DETECTION AND VERIFICATION

  • Guided camera support with Optical Character Recognition that will lift the document numbers automatically to reduce errors.

  • Verification that the work authorization document(s) presented match the selected document(s) from Lists A, B, and/or C.

  • Detect that the image of work authorization document(s) is of legible quality and that all elements are in frame.

  • A list of over 100 verifications on the above-listed document types which may include:

    • if the country of the ID is not allowed based on template requirements

    • if the colors on the ID are different than the expected colors

    • if the submission is a replica of an image presented on another electronic device or screen

    • if the ID is expired

    • if the ID is likely to be fabricated, based on its format and issuing entity

    • Detect if there is a government ID in the submission

    • if the submission is tampered by a photo editor

    • if the ID number format is well-formed based on issuing authority rules for certain countries

    • if there is encoded, machine-readable text on the ID

    • if the encoded, machine-readable text on the ID is well-formed

    • if the ID is a paper copy
