My students can't access their Google Doc in an assignment.

Try these troubleshooting steps if students are having trouble with loading their Google Docs in an assignment.

When a student uses multiple Google accounts on their device, Google Docs can get confused about which account to use when loading embedded Google Docs in Writable.

Share the following troubleshooting steps with students if their Google Docs aren't loading.

  1. Log out of your Writable account.

  2. Log out of your Google (or Microsoft) accounts.

  3. Log into Writable and try to open the assignment again.
    If using Google Docs you will be asked to log in with your linked Google account.

If these steps do not correct the issue, try the following steps to clear your browser history and cache.

  1. Log out of your Writable account.

  2. Log out of your Google (or Microsoft) accounts.

  3. Clear your cache and cookies in your browser using the directions below
    (last updated 9/1/2020)

NOTE: If the school or district does not allow students to remove browsing history, a school administrator with access to the G-Suite for Education controls will need to follow these steps for the student.

1. From the 3-dots menu in Chrome (in the top-right corner), click on 'More tools'.

2. Select 'Clear Browsing Data...'

3. Use the drop-down menu to select 'All time' from the Time range options.

4. Check the 'Cached images and files' box and click 'Clear data'.
Note: If clearing the cache not work, you can also try check the 'Browser history' and 'Cookies and other site data' to clear these options.
