How do students use Originality Check?

Students can use Originality Check, powered by Turnitin, to avoid plagiarism in their writing.

Updated over a week ago

Students can use Originality Check to check their own work for plagiarism as long as their teacher has enabled it for the assignment.

Teachers: Click here to learn how to enable Originality Check on an assignment.

1. Once logged into Writable, click on an assignment and then click 'Read & Write;.

2. Respond to the prompt. If enabled, click the 'Originality Check' box above the writing as highlighted.

3. The Originality Check report will appear on the left side of the screen and will include a percentage for overall similarity, as well as links to the sources.

Reminder! Originality Check requires a minimum amount of writing in order to check for plagiarism.

4. To recheck your writing after changes, click the arrow icon in the Originality Check window.

Reminder: Students only get to run two originality checks per assignment, to prevent them from abusing the system.
