Becoming part of the WXLLSPACE artist community is straightforward:

Sign Up: Register on the WXLLSPACE platform.
Create Your Artist Profile: Build out your profile with your bio, artistic statement, and contact information.
Upload Your Portfolio: Showcase your best work, including past murals and relevant projects, to demonstrate your style and capabilities.
Submit Proposals: Browse available mural opportunities and submit tailored proposals for projects that match your expertise and artistic vision.

While WXLLSPACE welcomes artists from various backgrounds, clients generally prefer artists who demonstrate:

Experience in Mural Painting: A proven track record of completing mural projects.
A Strong Portfolio: High-quality images showcasing your skills, style range, and previous work.
Ability to Manage Large-Scale Projects: For larger commissions, experience with the logistics and execution of significant artworks is beneficial.

Submitting Proposals: When you find a project that interests you, you'll submit a proposal detailing your concept, approach, and estimated costs.
Review and Selection: Property owners review submitted proposals and portfolios. An Art Director may also be involved in overseeing project quality and fit. Artists are typically chosen based on:
- Alignment of artistic style with the project's vision.
- Relevant experience with similar projects.
- Ability to meet the specific requirements and scope of the wall opportunity.

WXLLSPACE believes artists should be compensated for their creative labor throughout the process:

Design Fee: Shortlisted artists typically receive a design fee (e.g., $300, though this may vary by project) before submitting detailed artwork for stakeholder approval. No artwork is shared with property owners without prior artist compensation.
Full Project Payment: Once selected for a project and agreements are signed, artists receive the full amount outlined in their submitted proposal. WXLLSPACE does not take any commission from artists' earnings; our fees are billed separately to the property owner. Payments from the property owner are often staged (e.g., initial payment for materials/mobilization, final payment upon completion).

Your creative work is protected when you partner with WXLLSPACE:

VARA Protections: WXLLSPACE abides by all VARA (Visual Artists Rights Act) protections where applicable.
You Retain IP Rights: Artists retain full intellectual property rights to their original artwork and designs. This means you have control over your design and can use it for other purposes like prints, digital reproductions, or inclusion in other projects.
Property Owner's Rights: The property owner owns the physical mural installed on their property. The artwork's physical manifestation cannot be altered, replicated on another site, or removed without the property owner's consent (and often, consultation with the artist regarding their VARA rights).
Reproduction Rights: You retain the right to reproduce your mural designs. The property owner typically has rights to use images of the installed mural for promoting their property, but commercial exploitation of the design itself (e.g., merchandise) remains with the artist unless otherwise agreed.

Our agreements aim to clearly define these rights, ensuring a balanced approach that respects both artistic creation and property ownership.

Professional mural work requires appropriate insurance coverage:

Requirement: Artists are required to have their own insurance before starting a project, including General Liability. Specific requirements might include:
- General Liability Insurance: Minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate, with WXLLSPACE potentially named as an additional insured.
- Automobile Liability: $1,000,000 per accident, if vehicles are used by the artist for the project.
- Umbrella/Excess Liability: Recommended $1,000,000 per occurrence and aggregate.
- Workers' Compensation & Employer's Liability: Recommended $1,000,000 per accident and disease if you have employees or the project requires labor coverage.
WXLLSPACE Partnership with NEXT Insurance: To assist artists in meeting these requirements, WXLLSPACE has partnered with NEXT Insurance to provide access to tailored, affordable coverage. Artists can explore policy options through our partner link.

WXLLSPACE provides significant logistical support to ensure projects run smoothly:

Travel Arrangements: If a project requires travel, WXLLSPACE coordinates and books flights and transportation (often via platforms like Navan). We also secure accommodations (through Navan or Vrbo) and may provide a per diem for meals and incidentals, depending on the project.
Materials and Equipment: We ensure all required materials are secured before you arrive on-site. This includes:
- Paint & Supplies: High-quality mural-grade paints (acrylic, aerosol, etc.) based on your specifications.
- Lifts & Scaffolding: Coordination of lift rentals or scaffolding if elevation is needed.
- Brushes, Rollers, and Miscellaneous Tools: Specific tool needs are discussed beforehand.
- Protective Coatings & Sealants: If priming, UV protection, or anti-graffiti coatings are part of the project scope handled by WXLLSPACE.
