We want every artist on the WXLLSPACE platform to clearly understand how their final payment is calculated. Transparency and fairness are at the core of how we operate, and this guide walks you through exactly how your payout is determined at the end of a mural project.
Final Payment Formula
We use the following formula to calculate your final payout:
Final Payment = Artist Fee – Amount Already Paid + Reimbursable Expenses – Approved Budget Overage
Here’s how that works in detail:
Start with your total artist fee
This is the full compensation agreed to in your artist agreement for the completed mural.
Subtract any payments already issued
These may include your initial design fee or any mid-project progress payments.
Add back any reimbursable expenses
These are out-of-pocket costs you covered (like materials, equipment rentals, or travel) that fall within your approved budget and were submitted with valid receipts.
Subtract any expenses that exceed the approved budget
If your actual expenses go over the pre-approved amount and prior approval wasn’t obtained, we subtract that overage from your final payment.
Example: If you were approved for $1,000 in materials but spent $1,200 without prior approval, the $200 overage would be deducted.
What Happens with Over-Budget Items?
Sometimes, you may incur additional costs—such as parking—that weren’t included in your original budget and would put you over the approved total. In these cases:
We do not automatically deduct the overage from your final payment.
Instead, we will request approval and additional funds from the property owner.
Once those funds are approved and received, we will reimburse you separately.
This ensures your final payment isn’t unexpectedly reduced and that any exceptions are handled fairly and transparently.
