Mountain Adventure is our supplementary curriculum for those just beginning typing for the first time. It's a fun, character-guided climbing expedition that teaches students everything from mouse usage to typing complete sentences! Along the way, you’ll meet the Yeti, E-Gor and other fun characters that will assist your students in typing through the lessons. There are 3 “mountains” to climb, with each group of lessons represented as a “flag”. Students will begin with a diagnostic test that they will take between each mountain. These are not graded - they only exist to gauge progress.

Mountain 1 - Learn to Type

The first mountain has 15 different flags. Here, your students will initially begin with learning to use a mouse, then progress into the home row keys, then the top row keys, and finally the bottom row keys.

Mountain 2- Sunset

The second mountain has 30 different flags. On this mountain, students will learn capitalization, other punctuation marks, the numeric keys, and special characters.

Mountain 3 - Twilight

The final mountain has 30 different flags. The curriculum will come to a close here with students now typing full sentences, words and paragraphs. By the time they've finished this mountain, they should be typing at the words per minute and accuracy rates set for them.

This curriculum is plug-and-play, which means that students will pace themselves.

How To Enable Mountain Adventure For A Student or Group of Students

First, go to your Classes tab on the left-hand side of your Dashboard.

Then, select the classroom you'd like to adjust the settings for.

Then, you'll want to go to your Students tab.

From your student roster, you can assign Mountain Adventure to individual or multiple students. To do this, select the checkboxes next to the name or names of your students you'd like to have a certain curriculum. Then, select Assign Curriculum.

When you do so, search for the curriculum you'd like, in this case, Mountain Adventure. Then, hit Assign.

Now, you'll see the selected students have the Mountain Adventure curriculum assigned to them!

Checking Students' Progress

There are many ways to check students progress in the Mountain Adventure curriculum. Both access from the classroom. You may view the diagnostic tests as well as general progress.

First, select your Classes tab from the left hand side.

Then, select your classroom.

From here, select Reports.

Scroll down to Keyboarding and select View Report.

From here, you may select either the Mountain Adventure Diagnostic Tests Report or the Mountain Adventure Progress Report:

Depending on which you select, you may view your report:

The progress report will give you either a summary or a detailed view that allows you to see how many stars your students have earned on each lesson. In this example, we have opted to skip the mouse lessons, so that will appear blank. Click HERE for more information on how to skip the mouse lessons.

The diagnostic test report will give you insight as to the house students are doing on their diagnostic tests. While these are not graded, they are tracked so that you may view your students' progress over time.
