Accept contactless payments in person directly from the YourKind app. Sell tickets on the door or collect custom amounts instantly, no hardware required.

Written by Andrew

Tap-2-Pay turns your iPhone into a payment terminal. Whether you're selling tickets at the door with full data capture, or quickly collecting entry payments on the spot, you can do it all from the YourKind app with no card readers, no cables, and no separate terminals.

Two ways to collect in-person payments

YourKind offers two modes for in-person payments depending on what you need on the night.

1. Sell a Ticket (with data capture)

  • Sell a ticket in person, issue a QR code, and add the customer to your CRM automatically.

2. Custom Amount (dynamic in-person sales)

  • Type any amount and tap to charge instantly. No data entry, no ticket issued. Just fast, frictionless door payments.

Before you start

To use Tap-2-Pay you will need:

  • An iPhone XS or later running the latest version of the YourKind app

  • Your event or experience set up and published in your YourKind dashboard

Method 1: Selling a Ticket

Use this when you want to issue a ticket and capture the customer's details.

  1. Open the YourKind app on your iPhone

  2. Select the relevant event or experience

  3. Tap Sell

  4. Enter the customer's phone number

    • If they already have a YourKind account, their name and email will automatically populate

    • If they do not have an account, enter their name and email manually

  5. Select the ticket type and quantity

  6. Review the order summary, then tap Charge

  7. Ask the customer to tap their card, phone, or watch against the back of your iPhone

  8. Wait for the green tick to confirm payment

  9. The ticket is sent to the customer instantly via email and SMS

💡 Tip:

For most returning attendees, their details will fill in automatically the moment you enter their phone number, making door sales significantly faster.

⚠️ Caution

The ticket is delivered the moment payment is confirmed. Double-check the customer's email address and phone number before charging to avoid sending the ticket to the wrong person.

What happens after a ticket sale

  • The customer receives their QR code ticket via email and SMS instantly

  • The sale appears in your event reporting alongside online sales

  • The customer's contact details are added to your CRM

  • You can market to them for future events, just like any online buyer

Method 2: Custom Amount (instant door payments)

Use this when you want to collect in-person payments quickly without capturing data or issuing a ticket. Think of it as an EFTPOS terminal in your pocket.

  1. Open the YourKind app on your iPhone

  2. Select the relevant event or experience

  3. Tap Custom Amount

  4. Type the amount to charge on the number pad

  5. Tap Charge

  6. Ask the customer to tap their card, phone, or watch against the back of your iPhone

  7. Wait for the green tick to confirm payment

No name, no email, no ticket. Just tap and go.

ℹ️ Note:

Transactions utilising Method 2 attract a discounted flat fee of 3.5% + $0.50 per transaction. This fee is absorbed into the transaction. The amount you type is the amount the customer pays.

View Sales In Your Dashboard

Every Custom Amount payment is recorded in your dashboard as a door sale and attributed to the relevant event. You get a full breakdown of every transaction, the amount collected, and a running total of door revenue per event.

💡 Tip:
If your customer already has a YourKind account, just enter their phone number. We'll fill in the rest automatically, making door sales faster than any other ticketing platform.

ℹ️ Note:

Tap-2-Pay collects payments in your account's default currency only. If your account is based in Australia, you can only collect AUD in person, regardless of where the event is held.

For example, if you are an Australian-based organiser running an event in Europe, you cannot use Tap-2-Pay to collect payments in EUR.

Refunding a Tap to Pay Sale

If you need to refund a door sale, you can do so directly from the YourKind dashboard.

  1. Navigate to your event or experience.

  2. Open the Orders tab.

  3. Locate the sale you wish to refund.

  4. Click Refund and confirm.

The customer's ticket will be cancelled automatically, and the refund will be returned to the original card within 5–10 business days.
