YourKind makes it easy to run free events. Whether it is a community gathering, launch party, networking event, or open day, you can create free tickets that let attendees register and receive a QR code for check-in, all at no cost to you or your attendees.
π‘ Tip
Free tickets have zero fees on YourKind. No platform fee, no processing fee. Completely free for both you and your attendees.
Creating a Free Ticket
To create a free ticket for your event:
Go to your event and open the Tickets section.
Click Add Ticket Type.
Enter a name for your ticket (e.g. "General Admission", "Free Entry", "RSVP").
Set the price to $0.00.
Set the quantity to control how many free spots are available.
Save your ticket type.
When attendees register for a free ticket, they go through the same checkout flow as paid tickets. They receive a confirmation email with their QR code, which can be scanned at the door just like a paid ticket.
RSVP-Style Events
An RSVP event is simply an event with only free tickets. This is perfect for events where you want to track attendance without collecting payment.
Common RSVP event types include:
Launch parties and brand activations.
Community meetups and networking events.
Free workshops or classes.
Open days and information sessions.
Charity events and fundraisers (where donations happen at the door).
Why Use Free Tickets Instead of a Simple Sign-Up?
Even for free events, using YourKind's ticketing gives you several advantages:
Attendee data β Every person who registers is added to your audience database (CRM) with their name, email, and phone number.
QR check-in β Each attendee gets a scannable QR code so you can track who actually shows up.
Capacity control β Set a quantity limit to cap registrations and avoid overcrowding.
Marketing tools β Send follow-up emails and SMS to everyone who registered, building your database for future events.
Professional experience β Your attendees receive branded confirmation and ticket(s), which feels more polished than a simple form submission.
π‘ Tip
Free events are a great way to build your audience database. Every RSVP gives you a new contact you can market to for future paid events.
Mixing Free and Paid Tickets
You can offer both free and paid tickets on the same event. For example:
A free general admission ticket alongside a paid VIP ticket.
A free early bird ticket with limited quantity, then a paid ticket after the free ones sell out.
A free community ticket alongside a paid premium experience ticket.
This is a great strategy for driving initial registrations while still generating revenue from premium offerings.
βΉοΈ Note
Fees only apply to paid tickets. If someone registers for a free ticket alongside a paid ticket in the same order, fees are only charged on the paid ticket portion.
