The Tap to Pay feature allows you to sell tickets in person directly from the YourKind app, accepting contactless payment from any card, phone, or smartwatch. Every door sale captures the customer's contact details and flows straight into your CRM β exactly the same as an online purchase β ready to re-market to for your next event.

How Tap to Pay Works
When you sell a ticket through Tap to Pay, your iPhone acts as the payment terminal. The customer taps their card, watch, or phone against your device, payment is taken instantly, and the ticket is delivered to them via email and SMS within seconds.
At the same time, their contact details are added to your audience database, giving you a complete record of every attendee β whether they bought online or walked up on the night.
π‘ Tip
Tap to Pay uses the contactless reader built into your iPhone, which means you can take payment anywhere you take your phone. No card readers, no cables, no separate terminals.
Before You Start
To use Tap to Pay you will need:
An iPhone XS or later running the latest version of the YourKind app
Your event or experience set up and published in your YourKind dashboard with the ticket types you wish to sell in person
Selling a Ticket from the App
Open the YourKind app on your iPhone.
Select the relevant event or experience.
Tap Sell.
Enter the customer's phone number.
If they already have an account on YourKind their name & email will automatically populate for you.
If they do not have an account on YourKind, you will need to then enter their name & email.
Select the ticket type and quantity.
Review the order summary, then tap Charge.
Hold the customer's card, phone, or watch against the back of your iPhone.
Wait for the green tick to confirm payment.
The ticket is automatically sent to the customer via email and SMS.
π‘ Tip
If your customer already has a YourKind account, just enter their phone number. We'll fill in the rest automatically, making door sales faster than any other ticketing platform.
β οΈ Caution
The ticket is delivered the moment payment is confirmed. Double-check the customer's email address and phone number before charging to avoid sending the ticket to the wrong person.
What Happens After the Sale
Every Tap to Pay sale behaves exactly like an online purchase:
The customer receives their QR code ticket via email and SMS within seconds
The sale appears in your event reporting alongside online sales
The customer's contact details are added to your CRM
You can market to them for future events, just as you would your online buyers
With a Square or similar reader, the payment is captured but the customer stays anonymous. With Tap to Pay, every walk-up becomes part of your audience.
Refunding a Tap to Pay Sale
If you need to refund a door sale, you can do so directly from the YourKind dashboard.
Navigate to your event or experience.
Open the Orders tab.
Locate the sale you wish to refund.
Click Refund and confirm.
The customer's ticket will be cancelled automatically, and the refund will be returned to the original card within 5β10 business days.
