Connecting Your Payment Account (Stripe Onboarding)

How to set up your Stripe account to receive payouts from ticket sales, and how to fix common issues during onboarding.

YourKind uses Stripe to process all ticket payments. When someone buys a ticket to your event, the payment is handled securely through Stripe and paid out directly to your bank account. Before you can receive payouts, you need to complete Stripe onboarding.

Why You Need Stripe

YourKind has partnered with Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment platforms, to handle all ticket transactions. Stripe processes payments for millions of businesses globally, including companies like Amazon, Google, and Shopify, and is built to the highest standards of security and compliance.

Through Stripe Connect, payments from your ticket buyers are processed securely and paid out directly to your bank account, while staying fully compliant with international tax and financial regulations. You never have to handle sensitive payment information yourself.

Without completing Stripe onboarding, you will not be able to receive payouts from ticket sales.

πŸ’‘ Tip

Complete your Stripe onboarding before publishing your first paid event. You can still create and set up events without Stripe, but payouts will not process until onboarding is complete.

What You Will Need To Complete Stripe Onboarding

During Stripe onboarding, you will be asked to provide:

  • ABN or business registration number (if applicable) β€” used to verify your legal entity and for tax reporting. If you are signing up as an individual, your personal details will be used instead.

  • Website or social media profile β€” helps Stripe confirm what your events or business represent. A public Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn profile works if you do not have a dedicated website.

  • Business or personal address β€” must be accurate and match official records.

  • Your name and date of birth β€” used for identity verification.

  • Bank account details β€” where your payouts will be deposited.

  • Statement descriptor β€” the name that appears on your customers' bank or card statements.

How to Connect Stripe

  1. Go to Finances -> Overview Tab in your YourKind dashboard.

  2. Select Payments.

  3. Click Set Up Account.

  4. Follow the Stripe onboarding flow.

  5. Once complete, you will be redirected back to YourKind and your account will be connected.

Common Issues During Onboarding

Website or Social Media Profile

Stripe requires a link that represents your business or events. If your onboarding is stuck on this step, it usually means the link you provided was missing, broken, private, or not relevant to your events.

To fix this, provide a URL that clearly describes what you do (event pages, brand pages, or artist profiles all work), is publicly accessible (not private or under construction), and clearly relates to you or your events. A social media profile is fine as long as it genuinely represents your business.

⚠️ Caution

Do not submit a generic link like facebook.com or a page that is still under construction. Stripe will reject it and your onboarding will stall.

Bank Account Not Added

If you completed most of the onboarding but skipped adding your bank details, payouts will not process. Log into your Stripe dashboard and add a valid bank account. Debit cards are not accepted.

Bank Account Name Does Not Match

The name on your bank account must match the name or business structure in your Stripe profile. If you registered as an individual, the bank account should be in your name. If you registered as a business, it should be under your business name or registered trading name.

Bank Details Could Not Be Verified

If Stripe could not verify your bank information, you may need to upload a supporting document. Accepted documents include a bank statement from the past 12 months, a voided cheque, or a letter from your bank on official letterhead. The document must clearly show the account holder name and full account number, and these must match what is on your Stripe account.

Why Payouts Might Be Disabled

Even after starting onboarding, payouts can remain disabled if:

  • Onboarding is incomplete β€” if your Stripe dashboard still shows outstanding requirements, you need to finish providing the requested information.

  • Documents were rejected β€” if Stripe could not verify an uploaded document, payouts will stay paused until a valid document is approved.

  • No ticket sales yet β€” for new accounts, payouts may remain inactive until your first ticket is sold. This is normal.
