Trading Hours & Restrictions: When You Can and Can’t Trade

YRM Prop enforces structured trading hours and session rules to promote disciplined risk management and ensure consistent account evaluation. Below are the guidelines all traders must follow:

Daily Trading Sessions

  • Weekday Trading:
    You may trade during normal market hours, Monday through Friday.
    All positions must be closed by 4:15 PM EST each day.

  • Evening / Overnight Sessions:
    You are allowed to reopen positions after 6:00 PM EST, which marks the start of the next trading session.

  • No Holding Past 4:15 PM:
    Even if you open a trade during the evening session, it must still be closed by 4:15 PM EST the following day.
    No overnight holds beyond that point are allowed.


Weekend Restrictions

  • No Weekend Holds:
    All positions must be closed before markets close on Friday — no trades may be held over the weekend.

  • Sunday Reopen:
    Trading resumes when markets reopen — Sunday at 6:00 PM EST.


News Event Restrictions

  • Restricted Time Window:
    No new positions may be opened within 2 minutes before or 2 minutes after a major economic news release.

  • Holding Allowed Through News:
    If you already have an open position before the 2-minute restriction window, you are allowed to continue holding through the news event.

  • Examples of Restricted News Releases Include:

    • FOMC Interest Rate Decisions

    • U.S. Jobless Claims

    • Core PCE Reports

    • NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls)

    • CPI Releases

    • Other major economic announcements flagged on the calendar


📆 Trading Day Definition

  • A “Trading Day” is defined as placing at least one trade between 6:00 PM EST and 4:15 PM EST the following day.
