What do I need to work with Boots?

To locum with Boots, you will need to complete the following in this order:

  1. Register your interest in Locuming with Boots by following this link.

  2. Upload the relevant documentation below to your Zen Locum profile.

  3. Schedule a call with us by emailing support@zenlocum.com with the subject line "I am ready for Boots!"

Boots Documentation

To work with Boots, you will need the following:

  • Enhanced DBS certificate with an Update Service membership

    • This must be a copy of the physical certificate and not a screenshot of the update service subscription website

  • CPCS or Pharmacy First Self-Assessment - CPPE or Self-assessment accepted

    • Self-assessments need to be signed and dated

  • DMS - CPPE certificate / in-person certificate / Declaration of Competence accepted

  • Smartcard with Locum & SCR Access

I am not trained in the Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS) or Discharge the Medicine Service (DMS)...

If you are not trained to deliver CPCS, Pharmacy First, or DMS, please start the training yourself and notify us at support@zenlocum.com when you are accredited.


I do not have Locum Access on my Smartcard...

To Locum with Boots, Locum Access on your Smartcard is an essential requirement.

Please email support@zenlocum.com the following:

  • Smartcard number

  • RA email address - not sure who your RA is? Check here


I do not have SCR Access on my Smartcard...

To Locum with Boots, SCR Access is an essential requirement. Please follow the instructions laid out here to get started.


  • I have an old Enhanced DBS - how do I get onto the Update Service?

  • I have an Enhanced DBS but this is not on the Update Service...

  • I do not have an Enhanced DBS...

To Locum with Boots, an Enhanced DBS with an Update Service membership is an essential requirement. You need to subscribe to the Update Service within 28 days of receiving your Enhanced DBS.

If you have an Enhanced DBS and you are not on the Update Service and it has been longer than 28 days, you will need to re-apply for a new Enhanced DBS to be on the Update Service.

Zen Locum can reimburse the full cost of your Enhanced DBS once you have completed 5 shifts at Boots with Zen Locum as your Representative Agency.

In order to be eligible, please email us at support@zenlocum.com with the subject being "Boots DBS Request" to start this process.


Once you have uploaded these documents to your Zen Profile, please schedule a call with us by emailing support@zenlocum.com
