Deploy the Okta Verify app – Okta FastPass

This article is relevant when you are enabling Okta FastPass for a client whose Okta org is already live and stable. Okta FastPass requires that Okta Verify be installed on users Windows and/or macOS desktops to enable the passwordless authentication experience on desktop devices. Desktop installation is new for all users at this stage. You can provide installers directly or deploy them using RMM/MDM tools.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

As part of the the Okta FastPass Setup guide, this procedure assumes you have completed all the steps in Modify the "Any two factors" authentication policy to support Okta FastPass.

Steps

Get the installation files

  1. In the Okta Admin Console, navigate to Settings > Downloads.

  2. Scroll down to End User Apps.

  3. Under Okta Verify, download the latest installers for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

IMPORTANT

Users who enrolled Okta Verify on their mobile devices during the initial rollout may have an outdated version — check that iOS and Android versions are up to date before proceeding.

Deployment options

Manual — Share installation files with users and provide installation guidance.

Automated — Use RMM or device management tools to deploy to managed devices:

Once Okta Verify is installed on Windows and macOS devices, users must add their Okta account to the app to ensure a seamless authentication experience. The process is different on Windows and macOS — Okta provides instructions for both:
