What you can do without edit mode

You do not need edit mode for basic changes. These can be updated directly from the line item view:

  • Name, quantity, unit, and unit price

  • Net profit percentages

Step 1 — Enter edit mode

Expand the line item, then click the three dots next to the total price and select Edit Mode.

The top section will open showing the Main and Profit tabs, each with a count of elements inside.

Step 2 — Edit or add elements

In the Main tab, you can edit any existing element by clicking on it to update its name, value, unit, color, or visibility.

To add a new element, click + Add Element. A Create a New Element pop-up will appear with these options:

Type:

  • Value Unit — a numeric field with a unit (e.g., Height of Wall → Feet)

  • Formula — a calculated field that references other elements (e.g., Height × Length)

  • Dropdown — a selection field with subtypes: Material Dropdown, Subcontractor/Equipment Dropdown, or Other Text Dropdown (e.g., Yes/No)

Color: Assign a color to visually identify elements, especially when formulas reference multiple inputs.

Visibility: Set to Client View (visible on the proposal) or Admin View (internal only).

Fill in the name, quantity, and unit, then click Save.

Step 3 — Add custom tabs (optional)

Click + Add Tab at the top of the section to create a new tab (e.g., "Base"). You can add elements to it the same way you do in the Main tab.

Step 4 — Save

Review your elements, then click Save on the line item and Save Estimate at the top of the workspace.
