Both topical and neat refer to applying essential oils to the skin, but the difference is whether the oil is diluted.
Neat means the essential oil is applied undiluted, directly from the bottle without being mixed with a carrier oil. Neat application is generally recommended only for use on the bottoms of the feet.
Topical use means the essential oil is diluted in a carrier oil before being applied to the skin.
For healthy individuals, a 10% topical dilution is generally recommended:
60 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier oil
In some situations, such as significant muscle discomfort, bruising, or cramping, a 25% dilution may be used:
150 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier oil
For example, adding 60 drops of essential oil to a 1-ounce bottle of carrier oil creates a 10% topical dilution.
Always follow the specific usage and dilution directions provided on the individual Zilara Essential Oil Product Information Page (PIP).
