Overview
The Vertical Jump Test measures lower-body explosiveness using the Loden Performance App. This test is performed at every BASE tier
Equipment Needed
Hardware: 1 iPhone or iPad with the Loden Performance App installed.
Staff: 1 Coach or Instructor to operate the camera and manage the queue.
Setup & Environment
The accuracy of the automated tracking depends on a clean visual environment:
Clear Space: Ensure the turf area is clear of obstacles.
Background: Use a plain wall background. It is vital that no people are walking or moving behind the athlete during the capture.
Camera Position: Place the camera 8–10 feet from the athlete. The athlete must be fully within the frame; ensure no body part (head or feet) leaves the frame at the peak of the jump or during the landing.
Execution
From the Loden App Home Page, select Select Athletes and Tests
Choose athletes from the list or switch to Groups view and select the appropriate group
Tap Next, then select Vertical Jump (1 Vertical Jump)
Tap Start Test
Position the camera approximately 8–10 feet from the athlete so no body part leaves the frame during the jump. Have the athlete stand fully upright with their shirt tucked in and hands on hips
Press Record, count "1 Mississippi" silently, then say "Go". The athlete should keep their hands on hips and eyes on the camera through the entire jump — loading, jump, and landing
Upon landing, instruct the athlete to stand straight up and hold for a full second. Count "1 Mississippi" silently before ending the recording
If successful, the app will display the Results Page. If the jump height looks realistic, tap Save to record the data and return to the capture page for the next athlete
⚠️ If the result looks unrealistic, or an error message is shown, do not save. Re-record before moving on.
