Working Offline Improvements
Who should read: All Users
What’s new: The 1Place app now makes it clearer to see when your device is working without an internet connection. A Working offline banner will appear while you are offline, making it easier to see your current connection status.
Why it matters: If your organisation uses offline access, you can continue working in 1Place when your device has no internet connection. You can create, edit and complete checklists, and continue working on incidents while offline.
What you’ll see:
When your device loses its connection, a Working offline banner will appear and the status dot will turn grey.
Checklists can continue to be created, edited and completed while offline.
Incidents can be worked on while offline and saved to Drafts until they can be submitted.
Once your connection is restored, a banner will confirm that you are back online, show how long you were offline and provide a Reload option.
If there are unsubmitted drafts, the banner will remind you to submit them.
People Data & Offline People Sync
Who should read: All Users
What’s new: People data is no longer synced or stored on devices by default. When working online, the People field will continue to work as normal. When working offline, what is available in the People field depends on whether Offline People Sync has been enabled for your organisation.
Why it matters: Keeping the children and staff in your care safe also means keeping their information safe. This update strengthens how personal information is protected on your devices.
By default, People data is not stored on the device and is not available while offline. Organisations that need educators to select people while working offline can choose to enable Offline People Sync, which makes first and last names available on the device. Other People details, such as date of birth, parent names and gender, are not stored for offline use.
If Offline People Sync is off
This is the default setting.
The People field will not retrieve People data while your device is offline. A “You are offline, we can't load any results” banner will appear when they try to fill out the People field.
Once your device reconnects, the People field will work as normal.
Records that cannot be submitted while offline will continue to be saved to Drafts.
If Offline People Sync is on
When Offline People Sync is enabled:
Educators can continue using the People field while offline.
Only first and last names are available while offline.
Other People details, such as date of birth, parent names and gender, are not stored on the device and will not be available until the device reconnects.
If a record is started offline and the device reconnects while the educator is still working on it, a Reload option will appear to load the latest People data.
If the record is reopened later from Drafts, the latest data will load automatically.
For Super Users/Key Implementers:
Offline People Sync is optional and cannot be enabled by individual educators. Contact your CSM to enable it. As first and last names will be stored on team devices, written confirmation that you are authorised to approve this is required.
Background Sync Changes
Who should read: All Users
What’s new: The 1Place app will now sync data in the background once a week by default, instead of every six hours.
Users who need their device to sync more frequently can change this to Daily under Settings → Sync data for offline.
The first time you open the updated app: A one-time sync banner will appear. You can tap the banner to start the sync immediately, or leave it and the sync will begin automatically shortly after. This is expected and only occurs once
Device Requirements
Who should read: All Users
To use the offline features included in 1Place app version 1.92.0, your device must be running:
iOS 15 or later
Android 12 or later
Devices running earlier versions will not have the offline feature available.
If your organisation manages devices centrally through an MDM or device management system, your IT administrator can control when the app update is installed.
