NB: Only a ValveTrack manager or administrator user role is able to use the 'set valve to read only' functionality. The Viewer role will see the tick box greyed out and unavailable. Please contact a Manager or Administrator role person.
Open the valve overview page for the valve you want to lock down for editing.
Tick off "Read only".
Once it is ticked off, it will be locked for editing. Only the administrator role can unlock the 'Read only' tick box. The Viewer role will see the tick box greyed out and unavailable.
Changes made here are recorded as separate logs, allowing them to be tracked later.
Any attempt to delete this locked valve will trigger an error message.
Lock valve log page
Note: Only users with the ValveTrack Manager or Administrator role can use the ‘Set Valve Log to Read Only’ functionality. For users with the Viewer role, the checkbox will appear greyed out and unavailable. Please contact a Manager or Administrator if this change is required.
The functionality to lock down the edit/create/delete valve logs is found on each valve's Logs sub-section, with the toggle button "Lock Logs." You will need to confirm the 'Read only' choice again in the pop-up
When the valve log page is set to ‘Read Only’, the valve overview (metadata page) is automatically set to ‘Read Only’ as well. This prevents any further editing of both valve metadata and valve logs, indicating that the valve has been moved to control room processing or should no longer be operated.
Note: The valve metadata can be set to ‘Read Only’ without automatically setting the valve logs to ‘Read Only’. This allows the metadata to be finalized and locked, while valve operations and logging can still continue.
A valve log page cannot be set to ‘Read Only’ if the valve is part of an active plan (in either the Planned or Ready for Execution stage). This applies even if the valve log for that valve has already been created within the plan. The plan must first be set to Completed before the ‘Read Only’ option can be enabled on the valve log page.
If valve logs need to be created or edited again, a user with the Administrator role must untick the ‘Read Only’ box. Once this is done, new logs and status checks can be created, and existing entries can be edited.
