Pre-requisites to remember before deleting a valve
Pre-requisites to remember before deleting a valve
The valve cannot have anything ‘associated’ to it, specifically:
Valve logs (valve list -> view valve -> Logs)
Valve status checks (valve list -> view valve -> Logs)
Linked documentations (valve list -> view valve -> Documents)
Linked to any planned operation (planner -> Planned OR Ready for Execution)
NB: Any valve operation part of a Completed plan can NOT be deleted by any user bar software developers in the back-end databases.
Dynamic P&ID
You need to delete all the above links/associations before you can delete the valve yourself. The deletion is a ‘soft delete’, meaning that the valve information is still stored back-end on our servers, thus 4Subsea could potentially retrieve the information (level 2 support case) in the event of an erroneously deleted valve.
Please make sure you have the original copies of the content (P&ID, document, valve log details incl. images etc.)
Process to delete a valve from the valve list overview
NB! Please remember the impacts of deleting contents and valves prior to deletion! Please read the 'Pre-requisites' section first to understand the impact on deleting a valve from the ValveTrack instance.
Find the relevant valve in the Valve list
Click the trash bin icon to the left of the Actions column to delete the valve
You have to confirm the deletion once again by clicking the 'Yes' button in the pop-up message
If you get an error message after clicking Yes (step 2 above), then resolve the error message that is either stating that the valve;
Has a log/status check linked to it
NB: you will need to delete the actual log/status check itself first to sever the link to the valve. Make sure you have all the necessary details for all logs/status checks (including any images related to the log/status check) prior to deleting it.
Has a plan linked to it (a valve that is part of a completed plan cannot be deleted)
NB: you can delete just the single operation of the plan if it is part of a bigger operation scope. Do this by clicking on the plan (in the Planned stage only) and then click the delete icon of the line item you would like to delete.
Or you can delete the entire plan itself from the Planner overview list.
NB: you can NOT delete a single line item operation if the Plan is set to stage 'Ready for execution'
NB: you CAN delete an entire plan (even with completed logs/status checks filled out in the plan) in the 'Ready for execution' phase.
Has a dynamic link to a P&ID
NB: you will need to delete the actual P&ID itself first to sever the link to the valve. If this document is linked to MANY valves, then stop to think how to go about it first and its impact as you will need to re-upload the dynamic P&ID again. Also make sure that you have access to the original dynamic P&ID schematic if you want to re-upload it after the valve deletion (if still relevant).
Has a document reference linked to it
NB: you will need to delete the actual document itself first to sever the link to the valve. If this document is linked to MANY valves, then stop to think how to go about it first and its impact as you will need to re-upload the document and restore all relevant document references again. Recommendation is to download the entire Document and Documents references Excel templates from the Documents tab prior to deleting a valve related document.
