Can I choose Shariah-compliant portfolios?

This article explains how you can select a Shariah-compliant option when creating your Tailored Portfolio on CUSP.

Updated over 2 months ago

We know that for many investors, it’s important to grow wealth while staying true to faith and values. That’s why CUSP gives you the option to choose a Shariah-compliant portfolio when setting up your Tailored Portfolio.

These portfolios are built to align with Islamic finance principles, so you can invest with confidence that your money is working in the right way.

Where to find it?

When completing your risk questionnaire for a Tailored Portfolio, you’ll see an option to select between:

  • Conventional portfolio

  • Shariah-compliant portfolio

Simply tap Shariah-compliant portfolio to activate this option.

What makes it Shariah-compliant?

  • Investments avoid businesses involved in alcohol, gambling, tobacco, weapons, and interest-based finance

  • Portfolios focus on halal-certified ETFs and stocks that meet Islamic finance guidelines

  • Idle cash interest is disabled by default — keeping the portfolio free from non-compliant earnings

Why it’s helpful?

Choosing a Shariah-compliant portfolio allows you to:

  • Invest in line with your values and beliefs

  • Diversify across global, halal-approved markets

  • Switch between Conventional and Shariah-compliant portfolios anytime as your preferences change
