Your Fieldy 3 uses a single LED to tell you what it's doing - recording, pairing, low on battery, or in need of attention. Use this page to decode it. You can also turn the visible LED off entirely in the app (Settings → Recording Light), Fieldy keeps recording and syncing normally either way.
LED states while active (current firmware v3.3.4C+)
LED | What it means |
⚪ Steady white | Recording. Stays on for the whole recording. |
⚪ Single white flash | Status check. Press the button while not recording — one flash means Fieldy is awake and ready. |
🔵 Slow blue blinking | Ready to pair. Fieldy isn't paired yet. It goes to sleep after 10 minutes of this — press the button to wake it back up. |
🔴 Steady red (while recording) | Low battery while recording. Recording continues — charge soon. |
⚪ White blinking (while recording) | Storage warning. Local storage is almost full, or your phone isn't paired/connected. Open the app to sync. |
🔴 3 red flashes | Battery empty. Fieldy can't record — place it on the charger. |
⚪ 3 white flashes | Can't record. Recording can't start right now — open the app to check your Fieldy. |
LED while on the charger
The device can be used while charging. Charging lights only show while Fieldy isn't recording - recording lights always take priority.
LED | What it means |
🟢 Green blinking | Charging. |
🔴 Red blinking | Charging, still low on battery. |
🟢 Steady green | Fully charged. |
How to turn the LED off when Fieldy is transcribing?
In the app, go to your device screen and toggle Recording Light off (on by default)

This disables the visible LED only; Fieldy continues to record, store, and sync exactly as before. Turn it back on any time from the same screen.
If your LED doesn't match this list
Stuck on blinking blue? Fieldy is still searching for your phone - make sure Bluetooth is on, the app is open, and you're within range.
White blinking during recording? Open the app to sync - either offline storage is nearly full or your phone isn't connected.
No light at all, and you didn't turn it off in Settings? Charge fully with a different cable or outlet, then press the button.
