Understanding Influencer Tracking and Purchases
When an influencer shares a tracking link with their followers, customers that click on the link will be directed to the company website temporarily where a cookie will be placed on their computer. This cookie is used by the company to register sales. On our end, we will have a tracking pixel set up on the page for when the sale or lead is converted.
When the customer reaches the page for a successful sale, we check if a cookie has been placed, if so, then we can save the sale based on the cookie. If no cookie is found, we can compare the customer's IP address to a previous click that was made in the last 14 - 30 days. That way, if the customer makes a purchase within that period, we can still register the sale.
It is important to note that we save both the cookie and the IP address in the last 14 - 30 days. This means when a customer clicks the link, the cookie will be stored on their browser, and when a sale is made within 14 - 30 days, we can register and credit the sale for the influencer.
We hope this article clarified our tracking practice for when customers click on influencer tracking links. If you have any further questions concerning this process, please contact us.
