Why Use SMS Notifications

Step 1: Enable SMS Notifications

  1. Go to the Integrations page in System Setup.

  2. Locate the SMS Messaging Integration.

  3. Set Active to "yes" to activate SMS functionality for your account.

Step 2: Purchase SMS Bundles

  1. Navigate to System Setup > Subscription & Billing.

  2. Scroll to the SMS Bundles/ SMS Messages.

  3. Select and purchase a bundle that suits your messaging needs.

Step 3: Configure SMS Templates

  1. Go to the Message Templates section (Within System Setup).

  2. Set up templates for the following events:

    • Order Dispatch

    • Order Return Request

    • Works Order Activate

  3. Use placeholders (e.g., customer name, order number) to personalize messages.

  4. Update each template after editing.

Step 4: Add Mobile Numbers to Contacts

  1. Open the Contacts section.

  2. Select or create a contact.

  3. Enter the mobile number, including the international country code, within the creation or edit page (e.g., +44 for UK).

  4. Save the contact details.

Step 5: Assign Contact to an Order or Works Order

  1. Open the relevant Order or Works Order.

  2. Assign the contact with the mobile number to the order.

  3. Ensure they are set as the notification recipient.

    When does this get triggered

Step 6: Perform the Action

  1. Trigger the relevant event:

    • Action your order items as dispatched.

    • Confirm a Return Request

    • Activate a Works Order

  2. OnRent will automatically send the configured SMS to the assigned contact.
