Integrating with Xero

Integrating OnRent with Xero Accounting Solution

Updated over 2 years ago

Use our Xero integration to post invoices directly from OnRent to Xero and keep your accounts up-to-date in both applications.

What is Xero?

Xero is an online accounting solution that helps you manage your business and increase efficiency.

  • It’s all online, so you can work when and where you want to. Just login with your PC, Mac, Tablet, or Mobile

  • Your invoices are imported via the posting facility letting you see your debtors in real-time

  • Xero has all you need to run your business – including invoicing, paying bills, sales tax returns, reporting and much more

How does the integration work?

There’s three key parts to our integration with Xero:

  • Create links between Accounts in OnRent and contacts in Xero - When you create an account in OnRent, a new linked contact is automatically created in Xero. And when you update an account in OnRent, the contact in Xero is kept up-to-date!

  • Import and export Accounts - Use our import and export tools to import Xero contacts to OnRent or export accounts to Xero

  • Post invoices and credits straight to Xero - Once integrated, there’s a post invoice option on the invoice screen to post an invoice directly to Xero

Do I need the integration with Xero?

You don’t need to use Xero to use OnRent.

OnRent comes with some accounting functionality built-in:

  • Create invoices and credits, including ad hoc invoices. For some businesses, this might be all you need

  • You can create accounts and payment terms to manage your customers and invoice due dates

  • Export your invoices to easily import to QuickBooks, KashFlow and more with our Invoice Status report

If you’re looking for advanced functionality such as bank reconciliation, customer account statements, expense tracking, or payroll, then you should consider an accounts package like Sage Business Cloud or Xero.

Next steps

Your rental management solution and your accounts package are two of the most critical parts of your rental business, so it’s important to get the integration right.
