Taplio posting rules cover supported file types, strict file naming, and limits

There are a few important guidelines to keep in mind when posting from Taplio to LinkedIn, especially when it comes to uploading files like images, videos, or PDFs.

One of the most common causes of publishing errors is the file name format. LinkedIn has strict requirements, and if they’re not followed, the post may fail to publish.

📁 Supported file types:

Images:

  • GIF, JPEG, PNG

  • Max size: 5 MB per file

  • Max resolution: 6000 × 6000 px

  • ✅ Unlimited number of images per post

Documents:

  • PDF

  • Max size: 50 MB per file

Videos:

  • MP4, MOV, AVI, WEBM, MKV, WMV, VC1, MPEG, DVVIDEO, QTRLE, TSCC2

  • Max size: 128 MB per file

⚠️ Current posting limitations:

  • Multiple videos are not supported

  • Video + image is not supported

  • Video and PDF file(s) together are not supported

  • Multiple PDF files are not supported

  • PDF file(s) and images together are not supported

  • Posting videos from company pages is not supported

✍️ Character limits:

  • Scheduled comments: 1250 characters

  • Posts: 3000 characters

✅ Allowed in file names:

  • Letters (a–z, A–Z)

  • Numbers (0–9)

  • Dashes (-)

❌ Not supported:

  • Spaces

  • Underscores (_)

  • Symbols (@ # $ % etc.)

  • Emojis

  • Accents (é, ñ, ü, etc.)

  • Parentheses or brackets

  • Extra periods (only keep the one before the extension)

✔️ Examples of valid file names:

  • linkedin-post-image-01.png

  • product-demo-video-2025.mp4

  • marketing-report-q1-2025.pdf

❌ Examples that will cause issues:

  • LinkedIn Image.png

  • sales-report(Q1).pdf

  • launch🔥video.mp4

Best practices:

  • Use lowercase letters only

  • Separate words with dashes (not spaces or underscores)

  • Keep the name short and clear

  • Always include the correct file extension

🚨 Quick checklist before uploading:

  • Only letters, numbers, and dashes?

  • No spaces, symbols, or emojis?

  • Correct file type and size?

  • Clear and readable name?
