Connecting Taplio MCP on a Claude Team or Enterprise account

If you're getting a "missing permissions" error when trying to connect the Taplio MCP connector in Claude, and you're using a Claude account provided by your organization (Team or Enterprise plan), this is expected behavior, not a bug.

Why this happens

On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, individual members cannot add custom connectors on their own. An Organization Owner must set up the connector first, at the organization level, before individual members can authenticate and use it. If the connector hasn't been added yet by an Owner, any member trying to connect will see a missing permissions error.

How to check if you're affected

Ask yourself: are you using your personal Claude account, or one provided by your organization?

How a Workspace Owner adds the Taplio connector

  1. Go to Organization SettingsCustomize

  2. Click Connectors

  3. Click the + button

  4. Select Add custom connector

  5. Set the name to Taplio and the Remote MCP Server URL to https://mcp.taplio.com/

  6. Click Add

Once the connector has been added at the organization level, individual members can go to their own Connectors settings and authenticate with their own Taplio account.

Still stuck?

If an Owner has already added the connector and you still can't connect Taplio MCP, reach out to support so we can look into your account specifically.
