Connect Svea Checkout and manage payment actions

Activate Svea Checkout for the right customers and market and manage each payment based on its actual status.

Activate Svea Checkout for the right customers and market and manage each payment based on its actual status.

This guide applies to store administrators in Go, Plus, and Pro with an approved Svea Checkout agreement. Plan access, provider agreement, and an active payment method are separate requirements. Supported countries, currencies, customer types, payment options, fees, and payout terms must match your Svea account.

1. Get the right Svea agreement

Svea Checkout can combine invoice, part payment, account, direct bank, and card payments according to your agreement and market, for private and/or business customers. The delivery address and any BankID verification depend on the offer used. Do not assume that all options are available for all customers or that payout always occurs the day after delivery.

Contact Svea to get connected and retrieve the correct merchant ID and test and live credentials. Do not share the secrets in support tickets or images.

2. Add and activate the payment method

  1. Select the correct store and open Settings → Payment methods → Add payment method.

  2. Select Svea Checkout and add the method.

Set the method's status:

  • Active: makes the method available for display when other conditions are met.

  • Default payment method for customer: sets the desired default option. Only one method can be the default.

  • Make available only for the customers or customer groups where I specify it: restricts access; then specify the method on the correct customer/group.

  • Available for customer type: select private individual, company, or all, within what your agreement supports.

  • Do not allow other delivery address: restricts the address choice. Check the effect in conjunction with Svea's identity and address verification.

3. Enter account, account currency, and customer type

  1. Select Test or Live. Do not mix credentials for the different environments.

  2. Enter Merchant ID and the correct test/live secret from Svea.

  3. Enter the account's currency in Account Currency. The credentials must apply to that specific currency. More currencies require a corresponding Svea account and a separate payment method.

  4. Verify that Available for customer type matches the agreement and the customer type used in the checkout.

  5. Select if payment can be combined with gift cards.

4. Limit display and order conditions

Name and detailed description: enter customer-friendly text if needed. A blank name uses the method's default name.

Name and Description

Currencies: select all active or specific currencies. The fact that a currency is active in the store does not mean that your specific Svea agreement supports it.

Currencies

Countries: the default selection follows the store's delivery countries. Select specific countries when the connection needs to be restricted. Existing setups for Sweden, Norway, and Finland may require separate payment methods/accounts; follow your agreement.

Countries

Order status: select an optional internal status for new orders. It does not trigger a supplier charge.

Order status

Order total limit: the range refers to the total amount including shipping and other fees. Check the limits if the method disappears from the checkout.

Restriction on the order total

Extra fee at checkout: the field can add, for example, a handling fee. Check that the fee is permitted according to your agreement and applicable regulations and is displayed clearly to the customer.

Fee added at checkout when placing an order

Save and check the correct country, currency, customer type, any customer group, and amount range. Only test in the correct environment; Live can result in a real financial transaction.

Also check that the store's terms and conditions are visible and that the terms link works in the checkout's language. Svea Checkout requires an accessible terms and conditions page.

5. Choose payment action based on the actual status

Status

Correct handling

Reserved

Only use the actions Svea allows for the payment. Upon delivery, Charge may be available.

Planned/pending lease

Handle the pending status according to Svea's financing process. Missing standard payment actions does not automatically mean a faulty checkout or approved financing.

Charged

For a return, the correct refund action is needed for the transaction; the reservation's Cancel is not the same thing.

Canceled/removed

Do not charge again. Check the supplier's result and reference before taking other actions.

  1. Open the order under Orders and check the Svea reference and payment status.

  2. For a full delivery, when available: check Charge (Svea Checkout) in Perform actions and select Perform selected actions. The lightning bolt icon in the list provides the corresponding action choices.

  3. Verify that the supplier action was successful. An internal Paid/Shipped marking is not a payment receipt on its own.

Charge (Svea Checkout) applies to the entire remaining delivery with Svea. Do not use this action to charge only the items included in a partial delivery. For a partial delivery, the correct line items or amounts must be handled in Svea's interface according to the payment's allowed actions. Reconcile the result in both systems before doing anything else.

Before refunding, check if the return applies to the entire payment or only certain items. A general refund action in Abicart should not be used to select line items or partial amounts. For a partial return or multiple Svea deliveries: check the correct delivery, previous credits, and amounts in Svea and only perform the intended credit once.

For cancellations or returns: first check if the payment is authorized or captured. Use the allowed cancellation or refund respectively and reconcile in Svea. Do not perform the same financial action again in the portal without knowing the outcome from Abicart. If the result is unclear, gather the order number, Svea reference, time, and error message before trying again.

Quick start

  1. Get an approved agreement and the correct test/live credentials from Svea.

  2. Add the method for the correct store and customer type.

  3. Check the account, Account Currency, country, customer group, amount, and visible terms of purchase.

  4. Distinguish between full delivery and refund from partial delivery/return and check the allowed actions for the payment status.

Subscription and access

Svea Checkout is included in Go, Plus, and Pro. Svea's agreement and approval determine which markets, customer types, and payment options the connection can offer. Internal order status, leasing decisions, and actual charges must always be assessed separately.
