Recruit Page, Recruit Event, or Engage Journey: which one fits your candidates?

Abode gives you three tools for reaching and moving candidates forward: Recruit Page, Recruit Event, and Engage Journey. They're built for different moments in the candidate lifecycle, and most successful programs end up using more than one. This guide walks through what each tool is built for, so you can tell quickly which one (or which combination) fits the group you're working with right now.

The quick version

If your candidates...

Start with

Haven't met you yet, and there's no fixed date

Recruit Page

Are invited to one specific moment — a fair, session, or visit

Recruit Event

Have already accepted an offer or enrolled

Engage Journey

Recruit Page: your always-on hub

Recruit Page is an evergreen webpage — always live, no expiration date. It's the right starting point when you're building general awareness or giving a broad audience somewhere to land at any time.

Recruit Page is a good fit when:

  • There's no fixed date — candidates can find and revisit the page whenever

  • Access should be fully public, or protected with just a shared password

  • You want an automated drip sequence plus a confirmation email, not a countdown to one moment

  • Most visitors are browsing — reading about your company or program, not completing tasks

  • The content is organized by audience, region, or school, and needs to stay current indefinitely

  • It'll be built and owned by one person or a small team, kept simple

Look elsewhere if: you need RSVP and capacity limits for a specific date, or you need to track each person's individual progress over time — a page can't do either of those on its own.

Recruit Event: built for one dated moment

Recruit Event is Recruit Page's dated sibling — built for career fairs, info sessions, campus visits, and webinars. It adds everything a page doesn't have: RSVP, capacity limits, a waitlist, and a check-in window.

Recruit Event is a good fit when:

  • Everyone is being invited to one specific date — a fair, session, or visit

  • You need candidates to RSVP, and you're managing capacity or a waitlist

  • Your communications are confirmation, reminder, and follow-up messages built around that one date, not an ongoing drip

  • You want to track results by event and channel — which fair, school, or link drove signups

  • You (or day-of staff) need check-in access on the day itself, through the Event Staff Portal

Look elsewhere if: there's no specific date to plan around (that's Recruit Page), or the people involved have already said yes and need ongoing, individual tracking (that's Engage Journey).

Engage Journey: the ongoing experience after "yes"

Engage Journey is built for people who've already accepted an offer or enrolled. It gives each person their own account and tracks their progress through tasks, surveys, and uploads — spread across weeks or months, not a single date.

Engage Journey is a good fit when:

  • Everyone involved has already accepted or enrolled — this isn't a prospecting or invitation audience

  • Each person needs their own individual login, not shared or public access

  • You're sending ongoing, scheduled messages over weeks or months rather than a single burst

  • People need to complete tasks, surveys, or uploads over time, and you want to see who's done what

  • You're running this as a structured, ongoing program — organized by workspace, then program, then cohort

  • You want a reusable template with role-based access for a bigger team

Look elsewhere if: candidates haven't accepted yet (the account-based structure doesn't make sense until they have), or you just need open, public access (Recruit Page is lighter-weight for that).

Using more than one together

These tools aren't either/or — most programs use two or three of them together, for the same candidates, at different stages. A common flow looks like this:

Recruit Page (the always-on hub candidates can find any time) → Recruit Event (a specific moment, tagged with its own tracking links) → Engage Journey (the ongoing experience once someone accepts).

It's the same person and the same profile moving through each stage — nothing resets in between. If you're recruiting from a Recruit Page and also running a fair or info session for a subset of that audience, layer a Recruit Event on top. As soon as someone accepts, graduate them into an Engage Journey.
