How to Set Up an Academy Subdomain?

In this article you will learn how to set up a subdomain when creating your academy and how to change it later

Written by Rita

A subdomain is the part of your academy's URL that comes before the main domain. For example, in the link mycompany.academyocean.com, the word mycompany is the subdomain.

Setting up a subdomain when creating an academy⚙️

The subdomain is automatically created when an academy is created. To create an academy, go to the Academies & Admin Settings section and select Academies:

This page displays all created academies. Click Create Academy:

Then, enter the academy name in the new window:

The subdomain is generated automatically, but you can edit it or create a new one by clicking on the appropriate field.

How to change a subdomain 📎

To change a subdomain, navigate to Academies & Admin SettingsAcademies.

⚠️ To change the subdomain, you must first unpublish the academy – while the academy is published, the subdomain field cannot be edited.

To unpublish the academy, toggle the switch under the eye icon to the disabled position:

Find the required academy in the table and click the pencil icon in the right corner of the card:

In the window that appears, edit the subdomain in the corresponding field and click Save:

After saving your changes, turn on the toggle to republish the academy.

⚠️ Please note: after changing the subdomain, the old URL will no longer work. Make sure to send the new login link to your learners.
