Step-by-step guide to integrate Intercom with AdUp using data integration

With AdUp’s Data integration system, Intercom becomes part of a seamless data stream that connects your tools, store, and analytics in one smart network. Integrating Intercom into AdUp’s DI unlocks powerful customer interaction insights, enhanced user tracking, and a streamlined path to conversion optimization. This guide will walk you through connecting your Intercom DI integration in just a few simple steps. 💡


Step 1: Access the Data integration dashboard

Log in to your dashboard.

Go to:

Data Integration (MCP) > Explore MCP Servers

You’ll see integration options listed (like Shopify, Stripe, etc.)

Intercom may appear once you initiate or configure the access.


Step 2: Connect Intercom

Click on the Intercom box

A popup will appear titled:

“Manage Intercom MCP Connection”

You’ll see a field labeled:

🔐 Intercom Access Token

Paste your Intercom Access Token into the field.

📍How to Find Your Intercom Access Token:

  1. Log in to your Intercom Developer Hub

  2. Go to "Your Apps" > Select or create a new app

  3. Navigate to the Authentication section

  4. Under Access Tokens, click “Generate token”

  5. Copy the token shown – this is your Intercom Access Token

💡 Make sure your app has the required scopes/permissions such as read and write for relevant objects (users, conversations, etc.)

Toggle the Status switch to enable the connection.

Then click:

Update MCP


Step 3: Confirm Successful Connection

Once the Intercom connection is successful, it will display: Connected: Click to manage connection

You can return anytime to:

🔄 Update token

🗑️ Delete MCP

🚦 Toggle status


🧠 Tips & Reminders

  • Ensure your Intercom Access Token is valid and active.

  • If you need help generating your token, contact our support or check the Intercom API token guide.

  • Toggle the Status switch anytime to activate/deactivate the MCP.

  • MCP connections are flexible — update or remove them easily based on your current setup.
