Setting up your Aethair PRO

Setup and start monitoring with your Aethair PRO

If you are trying to configure your Aethair PRO, please check out this article:

Install Gas Cartridges

In most cases, your Aethair PRO will arrive with the gas sensor cartridges you ordered already installed.

If you need to replace or install new cartridges, the process is simple. All cartridges are hot-swappable and require no configuration—just plug them in, and they’re ready to go.

Step 1: Remove the Aethair PRO Cover

To access the gas cartridges, remove the Aethair PRO cover:

  1. Unscrew the two screws on the rear of the device, above the power button.

  2. Slide the cover upward and lift it off the enclosure.

Step 2: Insert or Replace Gas Cartridges

There are two types of cartridges: standard gas cartridges and the MultiSense Module. The device has two sockets for standard cartridges and one socket for the MultiSense Module.

To install gas cartridges:

  1. Unscrew the cartridge bracket (if installed).

  2. Remove cartridge bracket

  3. Insert the cartridge into the socket.

  4. Place the bracket over the cartridge and screw it down to secure it.

To install the MultiSense Module:

  1. Insert the MultiSense Module into the MultiSense port on the right side of the internal housing.

  2. Secure it using two 30 mm M2.5 screws.

Step 3: Replace the Aethair PRO Cover

When reassembling, align the cover rails with the grooves in the enclosure to ensure a proper fit. Once seated, replace the two screws on the rear of the device to secure the cover.

Power On / Off Your Aethair PRO

Connect power to your Aethair PRO. Some units ship with a partially charged internal battery, but for continuous operation, plug the device into a power source.

If you are using the Aethair PRO Solar Panel Accessory, power will be supplied automatically from the panel.

Press and hold the power button on the back of the device until you hear a beep. A blue LED will illuminate on the front of your Aethair PRO, confirming that the device is powered on.

To turn off your Aethair PRO, press and hold the power button until you hear a beep. The LED light on the front of the device should power down, confirming hte device is off.

Device Status and Visual Alerts

The front LEDs indicate if your Aethair PRO is reporting and active.

  • Blinking Blue = Connecting

  • Solid Blue = Connected

Note: Powering on your Aethair PRO before mounting may be easier, since certain mounting positions can make the power button difficult to access. This design reduces the chance of accidental shutdowns.

Mount Your Aethair PRO

Aethair PRO has various mounting options, set up your mounting hardware and mount your device at the desired location. For indoor use, be sure to mount 3-6 feet off the ground, in the "breathing zone".

To find out more about the different mounting options and how to setup your mounting option, visit the Mounting Option Guides →.

If you are using the Aethair PRO Solar Panel Accessory, visit the Solar Panel Bracket Article for setup instructions.

Placement Considerations

  1. Avoid direct influences

    • Avoid placing it right next to windows, doors, vents, fans, or HVAC returns, since these create drafts and may not represent room conditions.

    • Keep it away from walls or corners, since airflow is restricted.

  2. Avoid pollution sources (unless intentional)

    • If the goal is general indoor air quality, avoid mounting directly above a printer, stove, candle, etc.

    • If the goal is source monitoring (e.g., emissions from equipment), closer placement may be useful.

  3. Room type matters

    • Homes/offices/schools: Breathing zone placement (3–6 ft).

    • Industrial settings: Sometimes multiple monitors are placed at worker height and also near sources.

  4. Outdoor monitoring

    • Typically mounted at 5–10 ft above ground to avoid ground dust but still capture human exposure levels.

    • Should be away from obstructions like walls or overhangs that may obstruct airflow.

Configure your Aethair PRO

Once powered on, your Aethair PRO immediately begins monitoring. Additional configuration may be needed for Name, Description, Reporting Interval, Parameters, Location Settings, and Connectivity Settings.
