What is Mirror Mode?

Mirror Mode turns every product page in your store into a personal reflection for your shoppers.

Once a shopper saves their photo and you have switched on Mirror Mode in the Virtual Try on setting in your Shopify Admin Panel, your product images automatically show each item on them when they click on a different product page. Browsing becomes trying on.

It's the same virtual try-on you already know, with the effort removed.

How it works for your shoppers

  1. The shopper saves their photo once during a try on session, this becomes their Fit Profile and gives explicit consent.

  2. From then on, every product page loads exactly as normal. Your original product photo appears instantly, and a moment later it cross-fades into a render of the shopper wearing the item.

  3. A small badge reads "Shown on you · tap for original." One tap flips back to your product photo.

Nothing ever blocks the page. If a render is slow or fails, the shopper simply sees your store as it always looks. Mirror Mode can only add to the experience, it can never break it.

Your controls

Mirror Mode keeps things deliberately simple. You have four settings:

1. Master switch: turn Mirror Mode on or off for your entire shop at any time.

2. Category exclusions: underwear, swimwear and lingerie are excluded by default. You can adjust the excluded categories however you like.

How credits work

There's no new billing model. Every fresh Mirror Mode render costs 1 try-on credit at your plan's normal rate. Cached views, a shopper revisiting a product they've already seen on themselves cost nothing.

Because a typical browsing session touches around eight products, Mirror Mode is available on the Growth and Advanced plans.

Privacy comes first

Mirror Mode does nothing without a shopper's explicit consent. Here's what that means in practice:

  • The shopper's photo is stored securely.

  • It is never shared with your store and never used to train AI models.

  • One tap deletes the photo along with every render created from it.

  • A shopper who declines keeps exactly the experience your store offers today.

Good to know

  • Mirror Mode creates a realistic preview, not a physical simulation. It shows how an item looks on the shopper, not a millimetre-accurate fit.

  • Results are best with clear, well-lit product photos.

  • It works best in categories where fit reads visually: clothing, outerwear, dresses rather than fine detail items.

Getting started

Mirror Mode is available on the Growth and Advanced plans. Open the AI Frame app in your Shopify admin, go to Virtual Try On → Mirror Mode, flip the master switch, review your category exclusions, and set your monthly credit cap.
