Fine-Tune Your Workflow: Use the Settings Module in AI Test Case Generator for Azure DevOps

Need more control over where your test cases are stored or how they’re named? The Settings Module in Azure DevOps gives you flexible options — without needing to change your core project configuration.

Updated this week

Perfect for teams working with multiple test plans or suites (like Regression, Functional, etc.).

How to Use On-The-Fly Test Plan & Test Suite

Before you begin, make sure your Project Settings are configured.

Once that’s done:

  1. Go to the Boards page

  2. Open a User Story

  3. Use the ‘On-The-Fly Test Plan’ dropdown to choose where test cases will be created

  4. Use the ‘On-The-Fly Test Suite’ dropdown to narrow down the suite

  5. Click Generate Test Cases — and you’re done!

Test cases will be saved exactly where you specified.

Customize Your Test Case Titles with Prefixes

You can also add a custom prefix (up to 25 characters) to each test case title — useful for keeping things organized by type, release, or component.

To set a prefix:

  1. Open the User Story

  2. Enter your desired prefix

  3. Click Generate Test Cases

Prefixes also work for bulk test case creation — just enter the prefix before clicking Start.
